Pens coach Dan Bylsma announced that center Sidney Crosby will join the team in Washington Wednesday night and will skate during a two-game road trip in Florida.

"Tonight, Sidney Crosby will be joining us on the road trip," Bylsma said. "He will be skating during this trip. He also will at some point in time address the media as well. No set plan, but this will happen in the next few days."

There is no timetable for his return.

"(Crosby) has been working out with light exercises in the weight room and on the bike," Bylsma said. "We'll be glad to see him on the ice."

Crosby missed 61 games after suffering a concussion in January 2011. He returned to the ice Nov. 21 and posted 12 points (2G-10A) in eight contests before suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Crosby has missed the Pens' past 13 games.

Note: Bylsma also said that defenseman Simon Despres will be out roughly 2-4 weeks with" a Grade 1 MCL," and that Dustin Jeffrey will return to the lineup tonight and skate between Pascal Dupuis and Tyler Kennedy.

 

My feeling is that Crosby's career is just about done. The took close to a year off and still failed to recover.

Apparently we are all replaceable, no matter how big or how small. Boston certainly isn't missing Savard and Pittsburg has done well without Crosby.

I don't think so, I haven't read anything about him returning to the ice at all. Most of what I've read have pointed to his career being all but over

There was an incident and all the Canucks converged on Thornton , then the Bruins players showed up and everybody paired up , same as always happens .

 

I think you are right. If he is smart he will retire before the damage becomes permanent. It will really be hard for a young guy to retire so early in his career. Most young people, myself included at his age, think they are invincible. The sad reality is we are not.

Crosby is an exciting player to watch and most in this thread whished he played for their team.
