Pioneer Double Din Video Help!

I have a Pioneer Avh p4200. I have had it since christmas of 2010, and the video has always worked fine. But now all of a sudden it won't work.

No, its not a problem with the parking break. It doesn't go to the screen that it usually does if the parking brake isn't engaged. It stays on the homescreen, showing the normal background, and plays audio, but will NOT play video. I don't know what the issue is. I figured I would try you guys, and if I can't figure it out then, I'll just run down to car toys this week.

 

I don't have the unit, but I would first go to the settings screen and see if it somehow glitched - make sure the AV input is set to DVD or internal and not external or something like that - don't know what it would have been called for that model.

 

Yeah i have tryed going through the settings several times and nothing seemed to work... I will probably just go to car toys. (Where I got it installed)

 

Are you playing videos off of the SD card or off of your ipod? I can get DivX movies to play off of the SD card just fine but I've never been able to play Ipod movies...and I've purchased 3 difference cables since apparently you have to have a "special" pioneer cable made for video. That being said all that plays off of my Ipod is audio and I never get the video.

 

It used to work with videos off my ipod, and it takes dvds. Now it won't play the video, but it will play the audio..

 

Try disconnecting your battery for a minute or two to reset the stereo. If I recall that unit doesn't have any internal memory so all settings will revert to factory.

If it isn't playing video but the audio is going, sounds like it thinks you don't have the parking brake on. Maybe also pull it out and make sure all connections are secure

 

do you have a custom background image? if you do remove it and than try again. i just ordered a avh3300bt and although i have not received it yet, in my research i have seen that you play video you have to turn off the custom background.

 

I did have a background image but I removed it and it has been a stock one ever since. I'll try the battery reset thing, I'm gonna be installing a CB tomorrow anyway lol. If that doesn't work I'll just go down to cartoys and let them figure it out.

I know its not the parking brake. It could be a loose connection, but last time I pulled my stereo out, I had a hard time getting it all back in straight.

 

The guy in this thread had the same issues. Its also a greath thread on everything about this series of deck.

Its a long thread but he has that same issue in there. I remember reading it when I was looking for reviews of this deck. Just skim through it. Its in there some where. If I get a chance I will go back through it as well.

^^^This. I have a Pioneer double din in my truck (not the same model) and I played hell trying to figure that thing out at first. If it wasnt one thing it was another.

 

I haven't had a single problem with it, other than trying to figure things out. This is the only problem I have had in over a year.

Heres another explanation of how to fix....

I installed mine today so far I am pissed. Thye video off my harddrive is not working at all and off a jump drive the sound gets off set from the video.

Not happy my cheaper JVC worked far better.

 

When I got my 3200, it would show a blue screen while playing videos. I think I remember going into the screen saver mode and play with the settings to get it work.
