Long tubes are not strictly for off roading. They are just labeled as such due to the fact that they remove the front two cats. Thus they don't meet emissions standards in most places, and have to be labeled as,"for off road use only".

Better performance over stock. Direct bolt on. Shorties required welding on the factory cats from the factory headers.

Long tubes provide more torque versus stock. Short tubes provide more horsepower.

The biggest thing is where the power is at on LT versus Shorties. A LT header will cause some loss (or sometimes no loss but no gain) down low and mid range but will see a much larger gain in the higher RPM's. The Shorties will have the biggest gains low to mid RPM with some (if any) loss higher RPM's.

Also, LT headers are bolt up and remove the front set of cats but require an O2 simulator to not throw a CEL code and are not street legal in most places. Shorties do not require a 02 Sim as you must weld on your front cats directly onto the headers.

I will be going with shortie headers because I am supercharged and I want more power down low when wheeling and towing. I dont spend much time 3-5k RPMs anyways.

NWOR tri-Y header & front springs, dynoflow super turbo muffler w/K&N filter
I bought the NWOR.com tri-y header.Beautiful welds highest quality,w/dynoflow super turbo muffler...great sound and as for performance ....it's amazing ! Improved throttle response."Pulls" a lot harder thru 2nd,3rd & 4th.Not down shifting going up grade that I had to before the header.. only one glitch on the install ...the solid brake line is in the way and needs to be Gently bent towards to frame for clearance or if NWOR re-routed #1 tube up and around that problem.Otherwise perfect high performance header.

Its true unfortunately, but a custom tune can correct for most of the power loss in the low end.

Thats usually what the guys over on xr-u do

Theres a few different options, but if you plan on just the exhaust and no Boosting in your future, then the URD MAF CAL is the best bang for your buck.

You know the difference between a standard tune map and a custom tune map right?

Yup, I was just trying to figure out what you meant as I don't consider the MAF Cali as a custom tune, but it's more a definition thing, nothing to get hung up about. I think we're good. Also wanted to ensure that custom tune wasn't restricted to the APR X1 since that is only useful for pre-09s.

Appears that I need to start hanging out on XRU too, as I totally missed this. Very curious about price points and the 09+ harness.

Gadget is working on making plugs that fit the '09 ecu. That will be there to make a plug in play ecu for the '09 or a plug in play extension harness.

My friend is having ProEFI make a flying lead harness that has to be wired in (instructions included) for the '09 ecu. Therefore he can and will be running ProEFI's Pro48 ecu.

Just another option as far as tuning is concerned.
