Got my camper shell

Finally got the camper shell I was looking at. I think it looks pretty nice.

 

Idk how to make the pics bigger..sorry. Once again...i love it. I think i might move into it i like it so much.

im debating on getting one cuz i think it would be a pain to take it on and off, right now i just use my tonneau cover, on and off no probelm. Do you think it would be hard to take on and off as required?

 

I've got the same Leer 100XL on order for my white double cab. I think they are the best looking of all the shells. I got mine with the removable front slider so I can keep the glass clean.

I like those wheels. Were they stock or aftermarket? How much ea?

 

tacoma16: idk how hard it is to take off. i think some guys on here take theirs off/put it on on a regular basis. hopefully someone can help you out.

dotb36: i think my front window folds down. that was a must have for me. i don't want a filthy back window. the wheels are stock on the tx and tx pro. not sure of the cost.

Not hard if you have a garage. You can hoist it up from the rafters.

 

easy to take off.
i get my weakass brother in law to help me. just put it all on some homemade sawhorses for storage.

 

I just got back to the good old U.S. and A and drove the truck with the shell on it for the first time. I've been getting about the same mileage as I was without it (about 17 mpg) incase anyone thinking about getting one was concerned about their mileage decreasing after adding that extra weight to the truck.

I'm actually in the process of looking for a tacoma right now. Probably going to go with something similar to what you have. Really looks awesome, BTW!

Could you do me a favor and measure the inside height from the bed to the roof of the topper? I want to put bikes inside, but not sure they will fit standing up.

 

I don't have a measuring tape handy, buy i'll try and measure it tomorrow.

 

That's a sweet lookin truck. It looks like the one in the Cleveland auto show last year.

 

I carry mountain bikes around alot in my truck. My cap is slightly higher then my cab (see photo's) which allows me to put bikes straight in with the front wheels still on. Makes it very easy for loading and unloading.

I also really like the "WinDoors" as it makes it easier to load heavy things in, as you can open the sides to reach in. Comes in very handy when things roll to the front, saves having to crawl in to grab things.

The extra heaight is also great for sleeping in it, as you have lots of head room.

I do think the OP's cap looks great though. I think the cab high models like his look better, but I really the extra height of one like mine.

Thanks Shawn. I like your cap but prefer the cab height one. I ride a 61 cm tri bike and it's tall even without the front wheel. Thanks for the reply. Any idea how tall yours is on the inside?
