All you have to do is convince your SWAT team to replace their entry weapons. With its fully auto capability civilian use would be prohibited. Can get the stamps for the short barrel and the suppressor. Will your local sherriff sign off?

I'd think if you have the 07 FFL (i think) where you can manufacture class 3 stuff you'd be able to

A normal FFL will be stuck like the rest of us with a semi-auto version

    I think

Would I like full-auto? Absolutely, but moreso I like how short the entire thing is and how quiet it is with the subsonic rounds

My next AR build was going to be suppressed/SBR anyways...so I think I'm going to build it in .300BLK because i can use my normal BCG/mags/lower

I believe you'd need a Tax Stamp if it was just SBR, but since it's FA you'd need Class III.
You would prolly know it already if your Dad had a Class III :p

A tax stamp isn't that hard to acquire for SBR legality but no FA.

Just to clarify - to own a full-auto firearm made before 1986, all you need is a tax stamp (assuming your state allows it). There is no requirement to hold an FFL. That's why an MP5 will cost 15K if it's "transferrable" - meaning built/registered before 1986. A new full auto MP5 will cost less than $3K but you have to be an LE agency or the proper FFL with paid Special Operations Tax.

"Class 3" is a term thrown around a lot but there really isn't such thing as a "Class 3" firearm.

I just did a little research, and spoke with a guy in SC who can manufacture class 3 firearms...

He owns a shop, and when he went class 3 his liability insurance went up $2000 approx. and he pays like $500 a year to maintain the license

If he quits paying it, the post 1986 MG that he owns has to go

I'd be surprised if a citizen without a legit business will be able to maintain a 02 or 07 FFL

I'm excited though, because my local shop (Palmetto State Armory) is in the process of building a range, and being that they are able to produce MG...they are planning on having a couple select fire weapons for rent at their range :)

I'm good friends with 2 of the shop managers, and 1 of them is being moved to the new store/range when it opens...i'm hoping i can get in there before the rest of the public!

I don't think that was said in this thread and yes it would be technically incorrect.

I do believe that you need a Class III license to deal in NFA or Type II weapons.
It's a little complicated, but you'd better get it right or the Graybar Hotel awaits.

Right - class 3 refers to your Special Operations Tax (SOT). Basically it's a fee that you have to pay in order to deal. Your license is your FFL - you can hold one of several FFL classes and pay the extra SOT in order to deal with NFA stuff - including full-auto.

That isn't true. You pay the gubment money (tax stamp) and anyone that can legally own a firearm can own a full- auto machine gun no problem (barring communist states like california, nj, ny, etc). You can also get a short barreled rifle, a suppressor, and pretty much anything you want. Since the badger was made after '86 you would have to get a registered drop in auto sear for it, but it could be done. To manufacture machine guns requires a class III, which is also very easy to get and just requires some paperwork and paying off uncle sugar. People think it is somehow criminal to own rifles like that, but it is perfectly legal and encouraged by our fine government, mostly because they make money off of it.

you bring up a good point...being that it's an AR based weapon...a pre 86 m16 auto sear should work

but then you have $600 just in tax stamps to pay for, plus the auto sear which is probably a shit ton...etc etc

And I wouldnt go so far as to say the govt encourages it, but youre right in that it's certainly possible and feasible for a civilian to own any number of NFA items

Sure they do. It's easier than registering your tacoma, and it makes the ATF's payroll. Have you ever heard of a transfer getting denied? How about an FFL getting denied? See what I mean, it's encouraged. If we ever get a prez that enjoys freedom then it will get easier...

It actually was true. We were talking about buying or dealing a F/A weapon which requires Class III.
Class II is required to manufacture same.

    It is confusing.
