I’ve gotten all three skids (Front , Trans & Transfer C) but I’m pretty sure I’m short some hardware…
This is all the hardware I received. Should I be getting another package?

You shouldn't have it on there to begin with - they do nothing and decrease ground clearance. Take it off either way.

(If I recall, yes, you will have to remove it to get the skid to bolt on).

The front skid reuses all the original hardware so it doesn't require anything extra, then there's two supplied bolts with nuts that hold the trans skid to the front skid, three bolts with washers that hold the back of the trans skid to the tcase skid, and then you'll get more bolts with the supplied crossmember when it arrives, most of them just shipped out today though, I wasn't able to get them out before the holiday. Basically the locations where the bolts where at when we shipped are where they are used at.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Came home and only got the front skid in so far. That thing is a BEAST though! I'm pretty sure that I will destroy my truck before that skid. Nice work Kevin!

[IMG]Just got done with mine, had to trim the holes just a tad but not too much. What a difference in armor up front, I'd say it tied all the frame and sub frame pieces better then the thin stock supports, rock solid. Thanks Kevin, front is like a tank, will be ordering the trans- transfer case skids next.

I got the front skid on today. I was thrilled at well the skid fit with the diff drop installed. I know there a lot of diff drop haters out there but it’s giving me good CV angles and with the skid I have not lost and clearance.

I like at least 3/8" clearance between my skid and anything behind it, but that's just me. Stuff like this is why:

That said, the ATO front skid is the beefiest motherfucker out there. Gives you your best chance of not having anything horrid happen with a hard impact.

That was from some trip this past year, I forget which except that it was in Uwharrie NF in NC. I don't know when it happened...found it when I was doing a post-trip inspection.

That's the trans skid, so it's 3/16, not 1/4 like the IFS skid...but anything'll bend if you punch it hard enough.

MJP2 wrecked the shit out of his whole front end because of having a diff drop installed and (poorly) modified budbuilt skids trying to protect it...but then, he also tagged the rock at 30mph.

I also set the whole truck on the transfer case skid once with 3 wheels off the ground. It bent the add-in crossmember, and I had to pull it out and beat it back in shape with a sledgehammer:

You can see it's clearly bent upwards around the middle bolt. And no, it's not camera lense effect...look the the bottom of the front skid hanging just below it and how it's perfectly straight and parallel with the ground.

This stuff is why I tell people to buy ATO skids. I did my research and didn't bother shopping anywhere else, because no one else's products would've held up to my bullshit...heh.

Just picked up the skids, and these things are solid! Unsure when I'm able to rattle-can them and install, though. Patience is no virtue of mine.

Give 'em a good cleaning with mineral spirits before you do. But once you start beating 'em up...fuck it. Take a flap disk to em maybe once a year (if that) to knock the rust off then paint 'em up.

Going to pick mine up on Sat. Don't think it'll be warm enough to rattle can til spring so I think it's gonna have to go on there bare for the rest of winter. I'll clean the rust off with a wire brush and paint in spring.

When I put my lift on I installed a diff drop with longer bolts and have since lost the factory bolts. Anybody know the right size/length of the factory bolts so I can find some and remove the diff drop before mounting this beast up?

I was reading up on what was required to install all the skids, and saw that the gas skid "comes in two versions - Access Cab and Double Cab Short Bed model and Double Cab Long Bed model"

I have a double cab short bed, but Kevin never asked me for details when I bought it. Does it really matter?
