    Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker of these forums and have completed a HID retrofit and BHLM thanks to the awesome advice and comments provided by the community. Originally though, I arrived at TacomaWorld seeking information on lift kit options. I have thought long and hard regarding my decisions, but I would appreciate some confirmation from you who have already gone down this path before.

I am satisfied with my decisions from a budget/value standpoint while looking to achieve a comfortable, albeit a slightly stiffer ride on 285/70R17 tires with improved clearance and off road capabilities. I am aware of the possibilities of trimming and a cab mount chop. I even believe my decisions will address any vibe/shudder issues preemptively. I also weighed my options in Bilstein/Eibach configurations, but settled on OME for ride quality.

What I am looking for from you all is 'technical approval'. If there is anything glaringly wrong in terms of specifications, compatibility or approach, please let me know. And if applicable, recommend the alternative.

With that being said, lets dive into it.

    Tacoma:
2009 TRD Sport V6 4x4 Double Cab Long Box with TSB rear leaf pack

    Intended lift kit purchase:
OME Lift kit from ToyTec that includes
    Front OME 90000 shocks
    885 front coils
    Include top plate spacer
Rear ToyTec add-a-leaf for TSB springs
    Rear N182 shocks
    No diff drop kit
    OME trim spacer

    Additional intended suspension purchases:
    Driveshaft Carrier Bearing Drop Kit
    Light Racing Upper Control Arms
Replacement UCA mounting bolts for ease of UCA removal/installation (cut bolt heads and install backwards)

    Intended tire and wheel purchases:
    BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 285/70R17/E
    KMC XD Misfits (XD800) 17x9, 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern. 5" Backspacing, 0 Offset

I am aware that the common consensus is to have a 4.5" backspacing, but I believe the LR UCA's will rid me of inside rubbing issues, while the 5" backspacing may help with cab mount rubbing as well as tucking the tires under the fenders a little more, although I am aware they will still 'show'.

Well, there you have it. Do any of you see anything that I should revise? I feel I'm on the mark. If so, please comment even just to say I am on the right track.

Thank you - For your comments here as well as all the other fantastic content on this site.

And yes, there will be pics. Oh yes, there will be pics.
tl;dr - Review my intended purchases, comment.

Thanks for taking the time to read through it, YotaDan.

Additionally, asking all of you, will I need longer length U bolts when adding the leaf? While the kit includes new center pins, does not include U- bolts, so I assume no. I would like some confirmation though.

    Cheers.

I have very nearly your lift setup on my DCLB 4x4 Sport

I went without the top plate spacers and have Dakars instead of AAL , but did the LR UCA's , and the OME CB drop .

Very happy with the results .

For a Single Leaf AAL, your stock U-Bolts are long enough.

Looks pretty good. Got the same setup myself but havent installed yet.

OZ - did you install CB drop during initial lift install or did you wait until afterwards to treat any vibes?

From what I've read and done personally, u- bolts shouldn't be reused.

Other than that your set-up is good. That's pretty much what I have.

some people have issues with the LR UCAs so you might want to do a little reasearch before buying them. there are other companies that make em. and DO NOT reuse the u-bolts!

What about longer brake lines with that kit? Are they needed?

    parts and stuff

what issues? the ones about the bushings that got taken care of years ago? or the ball joint that wasnt as advertised that got taken care of right after they came out? also, SPC, the people that make the UCAs, have replaced peoples bushings that have failed for no cost. hell, when i ordered mine, they sent me the wrong ball joints. they sent me the ones for the FJ cruiser which have a different taper to the bolt that goes into the spindle. they sent me new ones and didnt care what i did with the wrong ones they sent me. infact, i still have them somewhere.

anyways, there arent that many "issues" with these. i have had mine since 2008 with absolutely no problem

Something like this comes out and is handled by the manufacturer, but yet it is repeated over and over by people that don't really know. If I was a mfr I would pull all my hair out in no time.

Thanks for the clarification, wrmathis .
