got it at autozone, its a special order for us at our store, but you can get it from rockauto.com as well. I got it from work well because I can get it in a day, and i have lifetime warranty on it as well. Its a new part, and *if* i break it (knock on wood) i can just order another one, swap it out no questions asked, and be on my merry way. I could have ordered it from rockauto like some other people on here have, but I wouldn't want to wait for it to come in, especially since its my DD. I didn't take me more than 4 hrs to do this. Its simple i'm sure I can do it faster now that i know what to do. I'm trying to get the seals on the cv axle(s) locally, but no luck, I'll get them from the dealership and do the other side and I'll add more pics plus part numbers, that way everyone knows what they should get.

Her is a question, I was thinking of doing this since i believe my wheel bearings are starting to go. Is this something some one unfamiliar with vehicle mechanics but a mechanically inclined person can accomplish in a day with the tools? ANd what places would have the press needed or can this be band out and installed inplace with a brass bar of the same size as the outer bearing race as to not damage it.

Yea anyone can do it if you are mechanically inclined, but it never hurts if you have help or a second opinion. When in doubt ask a friend. Usually a machine shop that does welding or works with heavy machinery will be able to press the bearing in. pepboys might if theres one local to you, but you can start calling machine shops and ask if they can. It usually runs around 30 bucks, and, depending on how, much work they have, around an hr to do. I'm not sure if this can be pressed at home, but if it can, then I would like to know how!! I'd just rather have it done now and pay for it rather than dick around with it and waste my time especially if I don't have the tools and knowledge know how. but you can do it!

Well muscle and leverage work great, but spraying them down with P'Blaster, wd40 or liquid wrench (being careful not to get too much on pads and rotors, work best. I used this stuff called Kano Kroil, which works freaking awesome! Better than the ones mentioned above, I used it and 15 mins later it was like they weren't even tightened. But if all else fails you can use an impact wrench, the shock should loosen them enough for you to loosen them up. Lemme know if it works!

Thanks for the info, I've replaced bearings before and learned the first two time how easily bearings can be screwed up if put in wrong. Never on a vehicle yet though. I have a Pepboys localy maybe give them a call. I have used stuff from loctite. Cant recall the name but like WD-40 only with this freezing action. Basically like heating one part and freezing the other. This stuff isn't to bad either. More leaverage works too.

A big fat guy works too  yes these bearings are sealed, so they're not like older chevys or fords that have a bearing and race and you gotta tighten the spindle nut just right. I know pep boys does springs/struts, also try calling tire shops and see if the can press bearings in. Lemme know how it works out!!

If your cv boots are still good because my axels is fairly new but the wheel bearings going bad do you have to replace the axel assembly or just replace the wheel bearing assembly??

No you don't have to, I only replaced mine because one of the boots was torn, it was 80 buck for JUST the boot at the stealership, and I'd still have to pull off the cv axle. my bearing was bad which is primarly why I did the write up, to show, how to do both since there isnt really a good write up on either.

How do u tell if ur cv joint is bad...I just did wheel bearings 2 months ago. Just got my lift installed 3 days ago and noticed fluid leaking from where the cv goes into the front diff. I also have a bad vib from 30-35mph and 40-45mph and when the steering wheel is turn all the way to the drivers side I get a pop and a clunk noise.

Before I installed the 1" diff drop no fluid everything was after install all the problems so I un-installed the diff drop. Any help or input would help thanks

I don't have a write up to the hub yet, I'm sure theres one on toyotanation.com but I'm not on the computerso I can search for ya.

Now I just got news that I might be getting a different job, so it looks like I might not get to change out my other axle and being soon. I might actually make enough money to pay someone to do it! but like with all things, I like learning so I'll have to make time for it.

Not the fat guys I have seen at work!
Seriouslly, I did a lot of reading and now im not to sure its the bearings. Bearings going bad usually get louder, correct. Today mine seem to stilll have a slight rumble like an aggressive AT tire or MT tires. So i jacked the front end and side-side and top and bottom wiggle. Nothing no movement. So i decided to spin the wheel and sounds like the brake rotor is haging up on the calipers. This I would think is not normal. Could this be causing the issue? 4wd works fine noise still there. Noise still there even on turns. - 81 has a nice curve for this to and from work. noise diminishes slightly. Any ideas, and need an oil change and lazy this time. Buying oil and having local garage do the work. to damn cold. no garage here, and have them take a look at it. Sorry maybe I should have started a new thread about this.

Yep bad bearings get worse over time, could be pads wearing, or bearing inside the front diff, or something else. There is a thread about the needle bearing going bad on the from diff if the second gen tacos on the driver side which does sound like a low hum, but only everyone it at certain speeds.

Checked the thread thanks again. No help though mine has the noise in 4wd. I am off friday from work and I am going to find a smooth dirt road with little rocks. I want to see if just maybe by chance its the tires. Cant see how tough. Hancook AT. Worth a shot.
I don't want to keep posting here and ruin your DIY,I'll start a new one if I need to. Excellent write up's on here. Ctrl P and go do the work. Its great not paying a dealership and telling them I did it when I get reminders i the mail.

3" lift. $10K in TRD options. Richie's semi-hidden bumper, and soon his Elka suspension
For the 35 - 45mph vibe, you can try putting 1/2" - 1" spacer in your prop shaft center guide. May need longer bolts for 1" spacer. Make sure you get the same strength bolts.
