Get your wheels ballanced

 

Start simple and work your way to more complex areas. If it's not loose lug nuts my money is on a tire separation. Run your hands over all surfaces of each tire and you will feel if a bubble is there. Some belt separations can cover a large area of the tread and they are scary to see and scarier to drive on.

 

^^^ What I was thinking. Your in Canada OP, Hit up Canadian Tire, Get them to do a inspection, get a idea what it is. I always go there first because they allow me to watch the inspection in the garage. If its warrentyd hit up the dealership.

I think power train warrenty covers the drive shaft does it not?

My battery died yesterday, got it jumped but just barly turned over after shutting off again. Had to be downtown in 2 hours, went to Can tire, tested/changed the battery and got a power steering fluid change. Took under a hour. Have a 3 year warrenty on the battery now too.

 

I jack my truck up on the diff all the time?

I never leave it on a floor jack though, ever.

 

Just throwing out another theory. I had my steering rack go out 3 times (part of the reason I got rid of the thing) on my old Mazda truck. When I'd go above 50mph and hit a small bump the truck would shake violently. Slowing down stopped the shaking.

 

I have heard of wobbel issues with these trucks, and the wheels can be the issue if they were seated correctly when installed after a rotation or new treads. Also, I am not sure how good the tires are on your truck but I have seen a tire get an egg and create this affect. What happens is the tires steel belt fails, but the tire is still ok looking, then it makes this egg or bubble on the treads which causes the same type of thing you are talking about. Also an alighnment is always a good way to help, if you have not done that already. IF it is speed dependent, then it could be as simple as the front tires are out of balance, and this could be a double whammy if the seat of the wheels is not perfect and the wheel was not perfect then the two issues will feed off each other, magnifying the issue. I am sure up in the cold it would not be hard to loose a wheel weight? Have a buddy drive next to you at the speed it happens. He will be able to see real fast what tire is out of balance if that is what it is.

 

I don't suppose this is happening after snowstorms?

have you recently done any modifications or had any servicing done?

 

No mods at all that deal with tires/suspension. The only servicing I have had done is to get the oil changed.

I went offroading about 2 weeks ago but since the little ones were with me I took it easy.

I have sand bags in the back but they are secured and not able to move.

I am going to spray the truck down after work and take a good look at it.

I will keep you all posted if I find anything or if it happens again.

 

Took it to the tire shop and it was out of alignment and they found something else...................

There was water in the back right tire

 

if they dont drain the compressors they accumulate water

 

You would think they should be doing that from time to time

 

It was a chunk of ice. It was minus 16 this morning. Also he said it was about 5 to 6 onces of water.

 

So did he punch a hole in it to drain it out?!



Not sure I ever heard about water in the tires before. Any chance you aired up at a self service pump?

 

Nope. They found the ice chunk when they took the tire off and I never put air in since the time the shop put the tires on.

 

Wow, ice in the tires? I would never in a million years been able to figure that one out. Glad its over. Time for you to move south my friend where the only ice we have is in our drinks not our tires
