So I just ordered this headunit from crutchfield. And just wanted to let people know if they are looking to upgrade their stock stereo to this Crutchfield is having a sale on this headunit. Normally $239, they are selling it for $199. Then with coupon code 3A825 you get another $20 off, shipped free, with free Metra dash kit, and free wiring harness.

$179 shipped to my door, can't complain.

    Thats all

Dude crutchfield Is known for selling at the highest price they can get away with so you probably paid what you can find it for I Amazon or eBay. But hey, at least you didn't pay 230$ for it lol. I use crutchfield as research only because there website is vary informative. I just ordered a pioneer AV3300Bt brand new for nearly 100$ less than crutchfield has it at.

I looked around. Crutchfield was including a free metra dash kit, free wiring harness, and free shipping. I couldn't find those included in a decent price anywhere else.

Mitch, that rocks! I have been looking at this HU for a while and was getting ready to pull the trigger for 199. Luckily I was looking through forums before finalizing anything and caught your post. Cheapest I could find online was 152.00 before shipping, etc. Another 29.00 for face kit and another 10 for wiring harness. This all from different places. Do the math + shipping this is way better deal. With the code I got it out the door delivered for same price as you. Dont know what other guy is talking about other than pointing out he thinks someone got taken and wants to highlight their lack of shopping skills. Oh yea you forgot to mention life time tech support and an option of black or silver textured face plate. Good deal and thanks for the code! Still valid as of 5 minutes ago.

Glad I could help. Crutchfield makes it super easy for the install. The wiring harness makes it stupid easy. Match the colors and boom your done. I did not connect the steering wheel remote or the mute wire. I don't know if you have the steering wheel remote, but according to Kenwood instructions the mute wire is not needed for the X895.

I don't have any steering wheel controls and didn't buy any add on steering wheel controls. They said it would come with the harness, etc. I havn't installed a car stereo I bet in 20 years. Is the harness plug in play with a plug on each end that goes into the toyota wiring and into the new HU or does there need to be some splicing connections done between the new radio and the plug that will fit into the Toyota wiring? Really looking forward to this HU so I can get my iPhone rolling and some bluetooth.

X2 I bought this HU about a month ago from Crutchfield and I got it for $179 shipped. Nice head unit but I really dont care for the Metra dash kit. I had to file down the plastic for the "flasher" button. It really doesn't fit well at the top even using the Metra clips. Great price and having BlueTooth is really nice to have. This is the first time that I had a vehicle with BT and I must say it is very nice. The sound on both ends of the mic is very clear, I have it clipped to the plastic at the top of the A pillar.

Kenwood supplies a wire harness that you connect half to one of the crutchfield harness and the other half to the second crutchfield harness. Then the crutchfield harness will plug into the Tacoma wiring harness, and the kenwood side of the harness connect to the HU. After you have spliced all the wires (really is color to color) then you connect the plugs to their matching plug

I have to agree. The Metra doesn't fit 100% but it fits 99% and only I have been able to notice it. And I'm not a fan of how the flasher fits in there. It seems a bit tight.

Have you noticed that it is hard to take the face plate off and replace it while in the Metra kit? The first time it wouldn't click in fully, so I have just left in it. At night, it sits back far enough that it's just black

I ordered the blacl metra. Did you use the black or the silver? Wondering if a difference in fit. Is it real noticable? Hell it was free and if I have to try a different brand I have no problems with that. Any pics you can offer?

BTW thanks for all your replies!

That doesnt look that bad at all. Maybe the black will blend in even better. I am more curious what you have going on there in the bay. I am thinking about making a dock port in there for my iphone using a iphone cradle. Thanks for the pics!
