So, let's just say... "I have an in with the 'big three' in the automotive industry." GM WILL be coming out with a Colorado diesel. 2.8 getting about 50 mpg and making over 300 ft lbs of torque.
Toyota is currently in the works in getting there heluix diesel motor, and more, built here in America and will be putting them in there vehicles within the next 3 years.
So the question is....Would you buy a 4 banger common rail diesel? Getting 50 mpg, and more then 300 ftlbs of tq? Your damn right I would!

Are you talking about buying a colorado? In that case HELL NO

And the yotas will have the same 2.8?

I am what they call a "GM GLOBAL technician." I go to the Detroit, and all over the place for conventions, and meetings, and meet up with the Regional GM field engineers. They where discussing this a few days ago. Also, I was talking about the diesel tacoma. When I say global, I mean all gm vehicles across the world can have this engine. I would own a yota diesel in a heart beat!

To clarify his post he was saying that the Colorado would be coming out with a diesel. While at the same time toyota is coming out with a tacoma running a 2.8L at 300 ft/lbs of torque and 50 MPG.

I was saying, "GM is coming out with a small diesel motor in there small trucks. And Toyota is snapping back with the hilux. Would you buy a yota with a diesel?". I would!

Not anymore. All newer diesels (cummins, dirty max, scorpion motor) are REALLY quiet! They got that pre spray and lower compression to bring down the noise. Thy have also found away to get away from the DEF fluid with the smaller diesels. I would have to find and re-read my notes on how they did it.

You are right. Like I said, "from good sources." GM Northern field engineers had a meeting 2 weeks ago, and this came up in the presentation. In other words, "read up on it, learn it, cry, and get over it.". Lol!

    Is someone mad?

I never said it was secret. Lol. They where just informing of us of what is going on. Informing us to "brace our selfs." If you have ever worked on a newer diesel before, then you would understand. And once again, "it was in a presentation." no links to it. My friend who is a foremen for the yota dealership, use to work for GM, had said the same thing a few months ago. How the tundra will probably be getting a larger diesel engine in order to compete with the big 3 within the next few years.

If true this is good news.

Also good to here they got rid of the urea shit, that'd be the first thing I'd try to eliminate on a new diesel if I bought it.

Makes perfect sense. Proper documentation would be sufficient.

+1. Whose going to remember this thread 3 years from now? haha. Also if a diesel taco comes out, I'm dropping my current and getting the diesel.

    This is the obvious solution.
