I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
So the other night I was driving home from work and someone cut me off on the highway. I went to tap the brakes and just as I did, I hit a patch of ice on the road and started spinning out of control. I ended up going nose first into a concrete divider at about 45 ish mph. Somehow the airbags didn't deploy, kinda wish they had since my face slammed into the steering wheel pretty good. Anyways, here are some pictures.

Pictures don't really do the damage justice, you can obviously see the cosmetic damage, but what is hard to see is what lies underneath. All the inner components that the body panels mount to are destroyed as well.

This picture shows some of the cosmetic damage. Both headlights and foglights will need to be replaced. Bumper, grill, hood, and quarter panels all took considerable damage

    IMG_20120114_141401_24cfea94d285808526ce5890889f9a6b29129011.jpg

Here you can see how the body doesn't sit correctly on the frame and you can see how the radiator is concave now.

    IMG_20120114_141818_f2e173c16d328713ed09545220b2b74fa259ea13.jpg

notice the aluminum bumper in the opening on the lower valence.

    IMG_20120114_141831_9262e06104ba233e8e7aa4a336737eced61d4df0.jpg

The dash fell apart on the inside

    IMG_20120114_141930_01c942becb9f1c59723058f0576c2a31058739b3.jpg

Not only are portions of the frame twisted, but also the frame is bent concave now. Can't really see the bending in this picture though

    IMG_20120114_142007_349c39b77b3088be1bd143655b394168f4b80d41.jpg

Looking down behind the grill, you can see how everything has shifted and bent.

    IMG_20120114_142109_c7ca84719c09e9e13adf649d816f32441ba3dac4.jpg

Heres an example of how all the metal pieces the body panels mount to are bent.

    IMG_20120114_142121_8b8e33358721cd51b672a9b8ad371f970520d527.jpg

Most important thing is I came out unharmed, just really sore. I also missed hitting any other vehicles while I was spinning out of control.

SO what do you guys think the insurance company is going to say?

Time to buy another Tacoma. With frame issues like that, probably totaled.

With my untrained eyes I see a truck that would cost 20K to replace with another truck at fair market value. Don't know much about body work but I have heard that frame straightening is actually pretty cheap in comparison to paint and panel work. I've seen what a few thousand in damage to just body panels looks like, so I can venture a guess. I find it hard to believe there is more than 10K in damage there.

Glad your okay...looks like it took quite a hit...if the frame is really damaged, they will probably total it. Depends on how bad and whether the insurance company feels...Good Luck...

I got a bent frame from a drunk....

They didn't total it, they're replacing the frame go figure.

Every rep is different some total it out with ANY frame damage others don't until it hits 75% of value of truck

I don't see how everyone says if their is frame damage it's totaled.

Everyone thought mine was totaled, they have to replace my bed, tail lights, bumper, hitch, etc and the frame. They are still not totaling, because it's not at the 75% or higher mark of the value of the truck.

Now once they dig into it, and see all kinds of other damage then they might total it LOL

That frame can get bent back out from what I can see. A new front end, and a few other things. I would be VERY surprised if it does.

does anyone know if costs such as providing me a rental car for several weeks are considered in making the overall estimate for the vehicle?

Be a nitpicking a-hole about everything. Go over it your self and make a list of everything you see wrong. Do a tape measure alignment to see if and bent a-arm mounts. Then try and see if you can be there when the tech goes over it to see what he/she finds. If they miss something you found make sure to point it out no matter how small.
