Looks totally driveable until the repair can get scheduled.

I am a collision technision and our shop just fixed a tacoma that had 10x the amount more damage then yours. it had about 13k worth of damage. i honestly think they will be fixing it. the truck we repaired ended up being a total complete repaint and fixed almost every panel and the front frame rails. DEF be picky about the repairs tho make sure it comes back PERFECT!!!!

I'm never much help in these types of situations but I'll give my $0.02.

Trucks value I'm guessing around 20-25k (just an assumption) and repair cost looks to be high, maybe $9,000? So I would say it would be worth around 10-12k if you fix & try to sell it. Now with frame damage I would say that number is on the high side, so IMO I would say its totaled, let the ins company cut you a check & go buy another taco. Glad you're ok though.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

Do I want the truck totaled, Personally no, but financially it seems to be the best route for me being that I was about to trade it in on a new tacoma in the next few weeks. Guess I'll find out for sure monday or tuesday.

the bumper is caved up against the wheels. If I just yank the bumper off, sure i could drive it, but that defeats the purpose of having insurance. Plus the radiator is damaged, wouldn't be smart to risk it.

    Yes.
With frame damage, they may total it. My 2008 with 70,000ish miles incurred $13,000 worth of damage from my fiance hitting a deer. It was NOT totaled. I'm not sure why either. Both driver and passenger air bags deployed (although we didn't need them.)

In a way, I wanted it totaled... It's hard paying off a truck that technically isn't worth anything anymore. However, I love my truck...and didn't want to lose her. It's a hard call. I told the body shop and insurance that it was between them. I was happy to get her back but I have now practically lived at the dealership for them to fix the 14+ items that were done poorly...

Glad your OK, hopefully it is totaled, that truck would never be the same.
Problem is these trucks are worth so damn much, will take a lot to total it.

Check your state laws too. In Nevada you can request only oem parts to be used, that usually ups the price considerably.

Did that 13k involve you having frame damage as wel?

Thats exactly what I thought. I pulled up to look at it today and get some stuff and I thought maybe its just new front body panels, but then the more I crawled around it, things are out of place and bent everywhere.

Nothing matters except the value of the truck and the amount of damage. If the damage amount comes anywhere near 80% of the value of the truck they will total it.

So, 08 Prerunner sport, without knowing miles Id put the number at 16-19k. It looks like 8-12k worth of damage to me. So it's going to be close.

With the invention of the internet, I was glad my truck was totaled out. The last thing I wanted was 10K questions about the accident on CARFAX. I hit a pothole with my wife's Civic and it popped the airbag, now it shows up as an accident. I hope a really good hail storm hit OKC and I'm at work when it will be parked in the open.

holyS### batman. well look up your states percentage value. what i mean by that is take your trucks value, deduct the cost to fix. in VA, if its is at least 75% of you vehicals worth, its totaled. Glad you are ok though. But, if u always want your truck, u can buy it back from the insurance company

Glad youre okay. Around here they are factored in. There is frame damage no doubt about that. But it all depends on how it pulls out and how good the frame guy is. And there are some things that just won't pull out. That being said even if they have to replace your frame theres a good chance it still might not total your truck off. Depends on the value thu place on your trick and the they damage. I hope either way it works out in your favor. Make sure you take it to a good shop!

You only think he has like $1300 damage? You should know you that no 2 collisions are the same and can't be accurately compared. For ex. Fixing every panel could be key or glass scratches and minor work at the front while he has heavy damage at the front. I can easily see his damage reaching $10000 and would not be surprised at all if it surpasses that.

Not sure about Alabama, but in GA one thing the insurance company considers in the equation is "diminished value" payments as well.

If they pay for a vehicle to be repaired, Ga law also requires them to pay an additional amount to the car owner for lost value on the vehicle. In other words even if every detail of the damage is repared perfectly, the vehicle still is worth less than it was because of having been wrecked and repaired. The collision will be recorded on the cars history (e.g. Carfax) and that will definitely lower it's resale value no matter how it looks or functions.

Not sure how they determine this amount, they have some look up tables for it. I'm sure minor, body only damage has less negative affect than structural or mechanical.
