What's the advantage of the 4.7 over say the lexus 1ur 4.6 with more HP and FT LBS. or even something like the 2ur?

Are there already adapters out there for the 4.7? Cheaper and easier to find?

Seems like you don't gain much switching to the 4.7. 270 hp 315 ft lbs vs 236 and 266)

The ft lbs is a difference but is it worth swapping for?

Are you going to be running stock internals or will your bore it out?

    Just curious, not criticizing.

    I love good questions.

The bottom end of the Lexus 4.6 is no where near as strong as the 4.7 and the 4.7 produces most of its torque down low in the rpm range where a rock crawler needs it most. Those same reasons are the same for swapping from the V6 to the 4.7. The torque is not only greater in the 4.7 but it comes on alot faster and in greater amounts than the 4.0 does.

I'll be upgrading the entire motor using stronger rods, stroked and bigger cams. It will end up being a true 5.0 when done and will still be able to pass the sniff test when done, While running about 360 hp and 366 ft lbs of torque.

There are no adapters needed to make this swap as it is all plug and play and the motor just bolts right up when using the correct bell housing on the trans since they are the same between the V6 and the V8.

I'll switch the computer, gas pedal and the radiator and be good to go.

I only read through about half, but by the looks of it, it seems it is build strong enough for KOH?

Did you ever do that with this Tacoma, or plan too?

I hope I haven't asked something, that just requires more reading.

Good choice on the 4.7. Which year model?

I am not sure off the top of my head, but I can find out real quick, but one of the year models were way over built. Forged internals, iron block, closed deck. Built for boost!

Heard of them laying down 1700 BHP. Definitely a good platform to say the least. ;) Should complement this build quite nicely. :D

EDIT: I was a little off in my previous comment. 2UZ has the iron block with closed deck. That is why you said you were going to add forged intenals. I keep getting it mixed up with the 1UZ. Pre '92.5 model which has the forged internals from the factory. Doh.

The truck may be strong enough for the KOH, however, it is way under powered and way too heavy.

The 4.7 with the forged internals and a possible super charger will
put massive power to the rear wheels.

I know it is no supercharged setup, but here is some 2UZ 4.7L eye candy for you. Something like this would look pretty sick in that BEAST of yours. I doubt it would have any problem moving the weight either. ;)
