Saw Stop table saw experience??

The overall build quality seems superior to powermatic or delta. The arbor is super beefy and it looks to have a quick release for the riving knife.

Yes, forgot about that. Riving knife and quick release is big bonus.

That's one nice shop DJ, i've got mostly old stuff; 1950's Craftsman Bandsaw, 1948 Craftsman Table saw, 1970's craftsman radial arm saw.

 

I have an old trailer mounted 1940-50's 16" radial arm saw

 

Wouldn't a guard and a push block be a better alternative?

 

Still runs nice too i bet. The old stuff was pretty robust, i also have a 1960's Powermatic lathe im restoring. The only thing it needs is new bearings.

 

It hasn't run in a long time , but I bet it would flash right up . My grandfather was a general contractor and I got it when he passed away , I just couldn't let it go but it's too scary to actually run lol

 

Post up a picture if you have some time. Radial arm saws are fun. Something about pulling a unprotected blade towards you through a warped piece of wood. Just one of thoes fun to use tools

The picture above isnt my shop, wish it was tho. Ill probably be making some stuff there in the next couple months. Its so nice to not be restricted by not having any tools. Its fun when everythings easy. Ill try to squeeze it in before i go back to Phoenix, prob in April/May

Nicely built saws, EXPENSIVE, Is your finger tip worth the price? I dunno that's for you to decide. A good friend of mine/old roommate is a custom cabinet maker/ general contractor and he's missing the fingertips off of two of his fingers.

Personally, I ALWAYS use a push stick and treat a table saw with the utmost respect.

 

That's a good practice but as safe as you are, you can't predict if an accident will happen. I was working as a cabinetmaker pushing a 4x6 sheet through a 440 v table saw . The sheet bound up between the blade/fence and shot backwards , hitting me in the chest hard enough it knocked me on my back. It scared the he'll outta me , table saws are no joke .

I've used that table saw.

I think they work off a small electric current that trips the lock mechanism....may be wrong though

HAHAHA. Would be a good idea to have it in all shop table saws. Portable, probably not.

Guy at my friends shop just lost a finger from a table saw. Heard another 3 months ago that got his hand stuck under a piece of wood in the jointer. Lost 2 at the 2nd knuckle.

 

Funny me and the guys at work were talking about this a few days ago, we were wondering how it worked.
