The real reason to buy a new vehicle, and put up with 20% deprecation, is to get your dream vehicle EXACTLY the way you want.

    Our trucks depreciate?

That blue is beautiful. But so is grey. But if your heart is set on the blue, wait for it or you will regret it down the line. I just bought my dream truck in Pyrite Mica and every time I glance at it I smile. If I had gone with the black or another color I could have gotten last month I know I'd feel a slight let down every time I saw it. Damn I love my truck.

Toyota really does things right with all their paint colors - but when your heart is set, your heart is set. Stick with that and you will be happier.

Well kinda. He works with a truck shop off the dealership property and said that he could get me a deal on a lift from this guy and since they work with him all the time I could get the lift warranted through Toyota since I went through the dealership to get it. A few mall details I don't know like is the guy lifting it giving me the warranty or Toyota? Or what lift am I actually getting? I said no spacer or body lift so I don't think it's worth waiting for since I can get the stuff later or find a reputible place...only thing is I may have gotten a deal on it. Then again with no price quote yet I may not get a good deal because it's through Toyota.

Thats what I'm thinking now. I think I'll just try to get any accesories I can order before the truck arrives, put them all on when the truck shows up and worry about a lift later so that way I know exactly what I'm getting and drive home stock height. I don't want to spend a bunch of money just so I can have a warranty on a less than desireable mystery lift. I would rather know what I'm getting and I don't have the time to wait it out and work the perfect lift with the company since the truck is 3 weeks late. I guess I don't need a supercharger right now. Although dealer price would be nice, the big question is "if" they can get me one since they are not "certified" for the 2012 yet. Thats a bunch of crap but not the end of the world I guess.

One of the dealers that I talked to when I was looking said that their service department will do lifts, and that they were warranted by the dealership itself, not Toyota. I didn't buy from them so I'm not sure how that all works out.

That makes me even more hesitant to pay more for them to warranty it. I live 1600 miles away and don't know where I'll be next year. The military does that to you. So if it's not big Toyota with a warranty it dosen't matter how I lift it, only if I get a good deal. I'm not driving 1600 miles again just to claim my warranty. Now I just hope I can get it in time to get the truck at all...in January.

I'd wait and alter your plans to come back later and get the truck. The blue rocks!!

My deal has officially fallen through. I am now not scheduled for anything. The truck was going to be here the 21st of dec, then the 9th of jan now it has moved to the 19th of jan. I'm going to cancel the deal. I only have so much vacation time and have already extended a week and paid $300 to send my wife home on a flight early for no reason since I'm not getting the truck. I have to get another one way rental car for $600 more dollars and it has to be big enough for the Bakflip F1 I bought here. My dealer back home can't get what I want in grey or blue. I might still be able to get grey out here, but I'm not holding my breath. What a shitty deal for me. $600 in traveling expenses to get a "deal" cost me $1500 for travel in the end and had I known I would leave empty handed I could have saved it all and drove my own car.

The blue is the best color out there....after Spruce Mica ;) and way nicer than the boring gray. I had one.
But don't compromise, you'll be second guessing yourself the entire time you own it.

I am sorry to hear the news. If it makes you feel any better, I am still waiting on the truck I ordered Sept 7. Dealer mistakes, dealer lies, Toyota delays, more dealer mistakes, more lies, more production delays. It is, by far, my worst car buying experience ever.

I finally gave up and purchased out-of-state. The deal is done and the truck is on the way. Cut your losses, move on, but get the truck you want.

edit: just saw the update OP, sorry to hear the bad news :(

Dont lose hope - your dream truck is still out there. I know you want it now and you're upset it hasnt come in, but dont make a rash decision to buy something you're not 100% into. Wait another year if that what it takes, to get your DREAM truck.

Ok I just texted the salesman! LOL I wanted either blue or grey..went for grey because it is "more common" but my a 4x2 Access PreRunner SR5 is not common(it seems PreRunners normally only have TRD packages) so..if they can't find any at the distribution centers(not holding my breath since its not even listed on the dealer site) I asked if I could change the color to blue before they tell toyota to build it. IF IM GOING TO WAIT 2-3 MONTHS I BETTER GET WHAT I WANT 10000000000000%! lol(sorry for caps..i just had a little rant cause i wanted it sooner..patience padawan...patience...)

Lol my dad just mentioned picking up at the factory to save a few days and heck..just imagine..taking a tour of the factory..and them driving up a truck straight out of the factory for you to drive home..ah..i might die..

I'm also in the AF and dealt with this same issue! I ordered my truck (2012 TRD Off Road Double Cab 6 speed 4X4) and waited 6 months for it to finally arrive the way I wanted. I also thought about getting the Metallic Grey but I'm happy I waited, the Nautical Blue is a great color and I promise you'll be more than happy once you finally get it. Plus you're spending alot of money for this truck so wait it out and get what you want...

Alright, trip is over and no truck in my driveway. I may be PCS'ing soon and could possibly go overseas. Anybody know the rules taking a vehicle to AF bases outside the US? My wife now want's me to wait a few more months to see what happens with work now that I found the truck I want and my local dealer can get it for me.

I got home from vacation to very my truck empty handed on wednesday then received a phone call on friday saying the truck had arrived...son if a bitch. I'm now 1500 miles away and not going back. So I ordered it here. 2012 TRD sport DCLB with ENTUNE alloy wheel locks, spare tire lock, exaust tip, drl, tow pkg, and all weather floor mats with door sill protectors in nautical blue for $32,490. It will be here the end of february.
