    actually if you go to walmart.com and click on 'gift cards' at the top of the page and then 'check balances' you can enter in the card # and it will tell you what is on the card. either that or on the next visit to the store ask one of the cashiers to look up the balance, they just have to scan the card no purchase necessary

    He could probably look them up for him, that's a good idea. But the brothers are about three hours drive from each other and Jason and Michelle are using the cards...

    Your idea about checking at the store is probably their best bet right now. I forgot that they can do that.
