If it's really 2 gallons, you guys gave me a smaller tank. ;)

I actually found this post a minute ago about an '09:

"Great news, I made it to work without a problem. The needle was just barely off the Empty line when the light finally came on. When I got to the gas station, I filled up and it only took 17.5 gallons so apparently it comes on with 4 gallons left. When I got to the gas station and filled up the needle was actually on the Empty line. I guess it's a nice failsafe to have 4 gallons left when the gauge says empty."

That's closer to what I thought, but that's a pretty big reserve amount.

And just because you would like to refuel earlier, it doesn't mean you can. I see some stretches of highway on roadtrips that are close to 50 miles between gas stations....so it's still good to know what you've got left.

Tell service that I just don't buy it.

    Thanks Steve!

Steve...how many qts of gear oil would your dealership charge for changing out the front/rear differentials and transfer case gear oil on a 2007 Orffroad? I came up with around 6 qts...my dealership charged for 10 qts. Their only excuse was "sometimes they take more". I assumed they just open the drain bolt, or do they use a pump that extracs more out?
Also, since my truck was new at times when the brake is applied the truck veers to the right or left and the steering wheel almost comes out of my hand moving to one side or the other by around 4-6". Everytime I mention this they say they can't reproduce the problem. I can understand this since it doesn't happen all the time but since it's a safety issue shouldn't they atleast check it out?

If they changed out 6qts they will charge you for 6. As for the mechanical issue you are having I am not too sure about that.. I know my truck doesn't do that so you might have some sorta issue on your hands.

I had some reservations about using them at first, but saw that it basically helped me find the dealers that were most motivated to sell me a Tacoma. It saved a whole ton of time making the purchase because the deal was done before I even set foot on the lot. Financing paperwork still took some time though, I'm a reader . I'm glad to hear those services are viewed positively from both sides of the deal.

Those sites are great. And I will tell you that if you are only checking things out and not 100% committed or don't want sales calls then.
    1. Put your number on the "Do not call list"
    2. When filling out the information and they ask for a email. Either use a email that isn't your main email or make one up.
    3. If you don't want calls DON'T AD YOUR NUMBER. haha.
You wouldn't believe how many people do this and when I call them they either dont want sales calls or have no clue how I have their number.

    BUMP!

I added a few extra links so people can be better informed when in the market to get a new car or truck. I also added links to warranty and service information.

Steve, just saw this and I want to thank you for being here to answer any questions that we may want to ask a dealer but are afraid of being "followed" in terms of the typical salesman tactics...

My question: Have you heard anything about an 8 cyl manual Tacoma being considered?

I know that I can go Tundra if I want the extra two but I think I've gotten comfortable to the size of the smaller truck after coming out of a Dodge Ram.

    Your welcome.
And as far as the V-8 Tacoma, there really isn't any talk about them at the dealership. I have seen a few articles about them and heard they had a V-8 Concept Tacoma @ SEMA.
And I really wish Toyota would do something about the Tundra only having automatics. I get at least 2 calls a month about someone looking for a manual Tundra. I know that 2 don't sound like much but 2 a month leads up to 24 extra sales in a year. If I hear anything else I can post a link or something here for you.

So I had received this email from a user here. They said:
"Steve, I want to pick your brain about the availability of the SR5 package on the regular cabs. Is the package no longer available from the factory?"

Some makes and models are not available in certain regions. This is a dumb (imo) move on Toyota's part. But if you go to Toyota's website you can "Build Your Toyota" HERE and order it from your local dealer. If you happen to go this route, print out the Toyota you build and bring it to the dealership in your area that the site suggests for you.. unless there is a Toyota dealer that you prefer. Remember if you special order a vehicle it is very possible it could take up to 8 weeks. I have personally seen special orders come in much sooner then quoted but in the same case I have seen them take a few days longer then quoted.

In the case of the SR5 in the regular cab I haven't heard of them coming in the 2012 models. I think last year was the they last made the SR5 in the regular cab. If I am wrong with that statement then they are at least not available in my region (NE). When I get to work tomorrow I can search on a program we have called Dealer Daily to see if they are anywhere at all.

...well, this might be less of a question and more of a PSA, ...perhaps steve may comment on this...

...i would highly recommend going into the dealership w/ a pre-approved loan guarantee before finalizing the deal/financing... it is an excellent bargaining chip for getting better financing.. also, make sure you READ and ASK questions before signing loan agreement.. ;)

    here was my recent experience:

dealer folk: mr. wiley, how much would you like to finance?
mr. wiley: 50% of purchase price...
dealer folk: ok, let us see what we can do..
    mr. wiley: ok..
    << wait 5-10min >>
dealer folk: ok, here's what we can offer you..
mr. wiley: uhh, ..ok, well that's great, but i've a pre-approved loan w/ a lower rate...
dealer folk: ohhh, ok, ..just a miniute...
    << wait 5-10 min >>
dealer folk: ok, how is this, it's a lower rate?
mr. wiley: me, ok, what are the terms? is there a penalty for early payment?..
dealer folk: uhh, ..hold on let us check..
    << wait 5-10 min >>
dealer folk: yes, there is a surcharge, but it's prorated by the number of payments made..
mr. wiley: ok, well, i'll just stick w/ my loan, thankyou..
dealer folk: uhh, ok, just a minute...
    << wait 5-10 min >>
dealer folk: ok, here's one, w/ an even lower rate, and no prepayment penalty.. here's the terms...
    << reading terms 5-10 min >>
mr. wiley: ok, this is good, i'll go w/ this... ;)

No offense at all but it sounds like you went to some hole in the wall dealer. When we sell anything we always go for the lowest apr available. It doesn't put any extra money in the dealership's pocket buy charging you a different interest rate. The only money that the dealer profits from is the final selling price and the aftermarket sales such as running boards, rims, tint, stereos and other such products. Selling at the lowest rates available is what is appealing to consumers. I hardly ever see anything over 5%.. most are even at 2.9, 1.9 and very often 0%.

And can you define pre-payment penalty for me? I have never heard of someone getting in trouble for paying early?! Doesn't make sense to me.
