Truecar.com, usaa.com, and overstock.com use a very similar system. As I priced and priced I went in expecting the USAA price, and the dealer told me there is a class action law suit against zag.com which is the company that does the car buying prices and they don't honor them anymore. I called USAA to verify and they confirmed it and said some states have stopped honoring the price as of last week. So the best you can do is haggel them down as close to that as possible. I think you did well.

thats my point...your quote is for an access cab...and it does not even include tax or fees or ext warranty (realizing he says OR doesn't have sales tax)

dealer cost on that truck per TrueCar.com is $29435 and he claims to have gotten the protection plan and fees, etc. for 29K out the door. If it was an '11, it would be a bit more believable.

I say he is full of crap and would love to see him break it down for us....vehicle price, fees, etc....as listed on the sales order. Realizing, he can continue to make stuff up...but I just want to see if he does it.

    I think it's funny...that's all

as mentioned in my original post/reply to this thread...i got the hook ups. in more detail...i happened to personally know the owner of the toyota dealership..which is why i got the price that i got. so cool your jets...no lies no bullshit. and besides...why would i go ahead and lie about the price that i bought my truck for? after hearing from other members...i'm not the only one who got a good deal on a 2012.

Still can't break it down for us??

Ok..I gave you the chance to come clean. As the OP of this thread, you are officially banned for excessive bullshitting. A little bullshitting is expected, yours is excessive. And for foul language...(you cannot go around calling people "salty" and expect to get away with it).

After 15 years surfing the internet I learned one thing for certain. People lie! LOL

Doesnt matter what some people would pay there is always a couple of guys who will claim they paid much less. The funny thing is these people usually don't even own a Tacoma! They are simply posers.

Who really gives a shit if someone else pays a couple of bucks less or more. Find a dealer who doesnt give you the round a round and treats you with respect. It will pay huge dividends down the road when you need another vehicle.

Some people should of applied there time running from dealer to dealer to a job paying min wage. They would of saved more. I got better stuff to do than waste time comparing dealer after dealer.

how much more can i break it down for you?

the truck was priced at $31,330. the protection plan was approximately $2,000. i just happened to know the guy selling me the truck...so i bought it for $29,000. trust me...$29,000 is a great deal for the buyer, but regardless...toyota still made money off of my purchase.

sorry if i offended anyone with my foul language. i'm not here to pick fights or arguments with anyone...i'm just happy and gratefuly to finally own the tacoma that i have dreamed about having for over 10 years and also be a part of this website where we can share our love for these amazing trucks!!!

Ok, So here is what I have been quoted.

    I'm looking at a 4cyl, 5spd manual, 4x4, Access Cab, SR5, Magnetic Grey for
$25,200 +tax, title, and registration which (in NY) I'm figuring to be another couple grand.

    Seem high/low?

that's pretty good in my book. regardless of what you pay for the fees and registration...the price for the truck seems right. hope it all works out for you.

Thanks. It seemed good to me too. First new vehicle off the lot and I want to know that I'm not getting taken advantage of. I've waited years for a Tacoma, so I'm willing to wait a little more and get the price that seems fair. I appreciate the input.

    your doing it wrong. lol.

you cannot just declare someone is banned. haha

shop the invoice price around, take an invoice from one dealership to another dealer. over and over and over again till you get the deal.

for clarification: i use invoice, as the sheet you get with the "if i can get it for this, do we have a deal" papers. after you round robin with those papers you will start to get the dealer crap. i.e. floor mats, tie down cleats, bed mat, etc. for free

Just an fyi for people who want the extended warranty. You can get them down a lot on these. I got the platinum plan 5yrs or 100k zero deductable for $800. They make a lot of money and are definately negotiable. Just remember you can negotiate that as well.
