Vibrations in the truck

First I have a 2000 Tacoma ext cabb 3.4 v6 4x4 manual. I also have 31x10.50x15 tires on the truck. They are Firestone Destination M/T. I put a spacer leveling kit on front (readylift). the kit came with a diff drop which i installed. Recently I have began having vibrations. I thought it was the double cardan but after having that checked by a driveline shop they replaced the front and rear u joints and the carrier bearing. I have had the tires balanced and the alignment done. I still have vibrations. To eliminate the rear driveshaft I dropped it and drove down the road on the front end. Found the same results vibrations at 43 44 mph. They only happen in this range. They are constant and it does not matter if I am accelerating or decelerating or turning either way. My cv's have just a hair play. Just enough to be felt when I shake it. That is very very little though. Also I turned the wheel as far each way and drove around in the yard. No popping or clicking cv's so I feel like they are okay. I did notice that one of my spacers for the diff drop seems to be sitting weird not seated flush like the other one. The question is could the diff drop cause vibrations should I remove it? Try it? ideas?

I'm sub'd on this as I've experienced the same dang thang. Except, I'm driving a 3.4l 6 lug 1998 pre-runner driving on 31x10.5x15 kuhmo mojave at-63h... My steering has that "clunk" with about an 1" of play in the wheel that seems to be a pretty common thing on this forum.

My one suggestion that has helped reduce my vibration is that I recently threw a wheel weights up front, so I had my local tire guy add re-balance the front wheels and all they did was add more weight (both inside and on the outside) and I think the extra weight has helped reduce the vibrations a bit...


But, if anyone else has any suggestions, please tell us...

 

Measure the driveline angles. IIRC, less than 3 degrees or less is the best for u-joints.

 

driveline is completely stock except for the front cv axles. just had the driveshaft gone through as i thought that was the problem

You put a lift on it, your driveline angles have changed. Measure them with a cheap ass angle finder. Until you do it, I'm right

 

i put a leveling kit on. i know this raises the front but i also installed the diff drop. i also removed the diff drop today and got the same results so i reinstalled it. the only thing i can think of causing issues is the tires. the cleats are wearing very weird. not like there is an alignment issue. one cleat will be worn down the next one behind it not as much. and its across the tire not side specific

 

ok i eliminated the tires and rim today. i swapped tires and rims with another yota and im having the same problems. i did notice when i was swapping the tires that my passenger rear tire had some play in it. the driver side did not. im taking it over to my brothers shop tomorrow and throw it on the lift and check this thing over really good something is up that needs fixing i will reply what i find

 

also vibration will smooth out some but never completely goes away. maybe a wheel bearing

replaced a rear wheel bearing which had some play in it. had to build a custom tool to remove old bearing major pita up until we built the tool then not too bad. still have vibrations. cv axles ordered hoping to put them in this coming weekend.

 

installed new cv axles still some vibrations coming from all around the truck. the entire drivetrain has been gone through all suspension components and mounts checked the only things i can figure now it the tires

 

do you have any play in your steering assembly?

 

have you had it aligned post lift?

 

no play and yes it has been aligned i do not have a lift but a leveling kit. been aligned 3 times since. once after and twice after hitting a deer. i have all new inner and outer moog tie rod ends installed. new lower control arm bushings and alignment cams. new bushings in struts. my tires due show some signs of cupping

 

took my truck in for a rotation and the guy i normally deal with said look your alignment is way out. showed me to the work area and with my truck sitting on concrete and under its own weight the front tires were sitting at angles. bottom in. then showed me the signs of the bad alignment on my tires which are effectively ruined now. truck never pulled or really drove bad but it drives a lot better now. and the tread is worn very very weird. will try to post pics

 

A leveling kit is a lift.

You said you hit a deer...did the vibes start after hitting the deer?

 

for the front end and no they did not start after hitting the deer. i put the leveling kit on about 2 weeks after the mts. got an alignment and it was perfectly smooth for about a year. then i started getting vibs that progressively got worse. then when the tires were cross rotated tread turning opposite way and wear was put on them it got better and is not bad at all now but i know its there. and what i was getting at about the leveling kit is it came with a diff drop for the cv angles and they are almost factory. no lift in the rear. entire rear driveshaft has been gone through joints replaced and balanced and is smooth as silk. cv axles replaced. one rear wheel bearing replaced all new tie rod ends inner and outer. new control arm bushings. everything is tight and as soon as i start moving the tires can be felt bumping and what not.
