i doubt it will flex any, but i'll keep that in mind.

    so far i have:
the front most section will be 2''x4'' box tube, and the rest will be thick walled 1.5 inch or larger tube. the entire rack will also be anchored to the bed bolts as well as have supports in the bed rails.

only real issue i can see with that extra brace is that since the sides of the rack will not be completely virticle (tilded in to match the lines of the cab), the lid to the tool box would hit that brace before opening all of the way.

rabit ears, lug nuts, or y-strap to hold the tire in place? all are just about equally strong. lug nuts look the cleanest, but require tools to get your spare off. the other two are a little bulkier, but don't require any tools.

    I say lugnuts.

Makes it harder for some asshole to steal your spare off the back of your truck

I wanted to double check about the Icon remote resi' as an afterthought. If I get the "stage 3" setup, that includes

5-8550 - Billet Upper Control Arm Kit
    5-8635 - Extended Travel Coil-over Shock Kit
    5-1100 - 1.5" Lift Rear Add a Leaf Kit
    5-7505 x 2 - ICON Series Rear Reservoir Shocks

I can add remote reservoirs to the front down the road correct? I know this means taking it off and shipping it out, which I am factoring in, I might just get them from the beginning if the price is right. Anyone want to chime in? I don't know the turn around time on something like that, but if my truck is in the garage with no front suspension for 2 weeks that pretty much seals the deal.

As for the AAL I figure until I get a trailer, or the RTT (which may never come, no point if I have a trailer), I am not going to ride around with an exp pack that I am not using.

Edit: Only reason I am considering the "kit" now is by the time I get the AAL or a new pack and UCAs I am up in the 3k range as it is. If the price is right it seems the kit is the way to go.

I would save the money from those icon UCA's and use it toward a leaf pack instead of getting the AAL. You can go with the regular all pro's instead of the expo's, they ride nice for me.

Good point. I let my calculator get away from me and those UCAs are defiantly a good 1k of that "kit" price. Just got off the phone with Marco (sp?) from DSM and he verified the DSM UCA group buy, and I guess the FJ UCAs are the same, so we will just go that route. If you like the ride with your AP pack that makes a few that recommend it, and with the gear you were riding with, that is similar to where I will be at.

Yea I forgot to ask about bump stops, might end up getting your opinion on those before I order as well. I guess you need to redo the bump stops because the shock bottoms out? And the u bolt flip re positions something to resolve this? Again...need to do some reading after I get back from lunch. Don't answer that if it's involved, I need to learn this stuff at some point...

Shit the xrunner was "o, you hit your bumpstops on speedbumps, take em out!" I need to catch up.

I just realized this morning how much of a dumbass I was when I said that the top spacers will make your CV's bind at full droop....when you are a pre-runner. lol...

What is she driving now? And is she really into a "project" or is it gonna sit in her drive as an ornament?
