White wheels for 2nd gen

Hey guys. Has anyone been able to run this type of wheel?

I'd love to run this bad ass old school look on my SW DCSB. What do you guys think about fitment? My searches haven't produced much.

 

If you find the right wheel specs, I don't see why they wouldn't work. I don't know about white wheels on a white truck though... I'd have to see it I guess.

 

I only ask because i've read alot about people rubbing their calipers with 16" steel wheels. By the numbers, I think these should fit. And I normally wouldn't go with white on white, but with these older style wheels, I think it could work well.

 

As far as I know, 16's aren't a problem if you get the correct backspacing. I think there was only 1 particular type of 16" wheel people were having issues with. 15's take some grinding on the caliper or a wheel spacer.

They would get dirty....real fast.

 

It is usually steel wheels that have the issues with rubbing in 16's. Is there any way you could get a shop to order you those and let you test-fit them?

Thanks for the info guys! In theory, even if they rub the calipers, I could use the 1/4" spacers from wheelers to give me some clearance right?

 

Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

 

Don't 2nd gens need hubcentric specific wheels?

 

They do not. The oem wheels are hubcentric, yes. But you can buy lug-centric wheels and use extended-thread lug nuts to center the wheel.

 

Doesn't work....like not enough threads for the lugnut to bite? Or they just aren't quality spacers?

 

Doesn't work as in the wheel still hit the caliper.

I know this is an old thread, but I just picked up a set of stock steelies, and I was thinking of painting them white to match my truck.Have any more pics?

Now that I've done the black wheel thing, i think i'd like to try white. Maybe some fj steelies like another member I saw on here or maybe old tundra wheels pc'd white.
