Did you forget the rear locker and skid plates on the off-road, along with the different tire and wheel options? What exactly did whippersnapper02 call those who don't know the difference? :stirthepot:

I'm also well aware of the differences between the TRD packages, I'm among the 5% that actually read the package descriptions at the dealership before purchasing.

I didn't know the bed was composite...

I knew it was a Tacoma, I knew the kind of mileage I could expect from the 4cyl 5spd 4x4, I knew I wanted an AC; I knew alot of things about it but never considered that the bed could be made of anything besides steel. My car died while researching so I had to push forward much faster than planned on. I didn't even notice the bed when going around the dealerships. I was already in best deal mode.

I don't think it is fair to say that those who didn't know where uninformed. If you didn't happen to see it online or notice in person there is no way to know. And I've never seen anyone complain about it. Really that was what I was researching when I purchased. I wanted to know what ppl didn't like about them. Composite bed is really not an issue.

And the dealers around here do not know the product. I put it in 4lo on the test drive and they guy told me I could go into 4lo on the fly and that it beeps the whole time in 4lo. Really it wasn't in 4lo.

Just a quick reminder- "Bait Pics" and/or shots of female anatomy for no real reason are not tolerated on this site. Folks surf from work, with their kids around, show friends/relatives threads, etc, and don't need to be subjected to that kinda stuff.

I'm not overly impressed with the Fisher Price cargo box, but I'll live with it. My last truck was a '69 F-100 which probably had more steel in the bed alone than my entire Taco. Guess I'm just getting to be an old fart that doesn't like change. It was pretty pathetic that I had to tell my salesman that this was the box and not just an insert.

Some of the salesmen are pretty thick... They told me there was no difference between my SR5 and the TRD Off Road. They even called it 'The $3,500 sticker'

I noticed it the moment I bought my X-Runner and I love it b/c of it being light weight. Great for performance and handling!

I researched the hell out of this truck before I bought it, and one of the (minor) selling points was the composite bed:

    1. No need to buy a bed liner
    2. No chance of rust
    3. Rugged as hell and it won't scratch

I also love the rails with the cargo hooks, the floor D-rings, and the storage compartments. Can't wait to try the 110 hook up

My first new truck was a 74 F100 and was rust proofed and undercoated but still had holes rusted through at the back of the bed under the tailgate within a year and a half.I like my composite bed on my Tacoma. The new redesign may feature all composite fenders, door and all panels. No worry about rust or parking lot dings and scraches and you will be able to get any color you want as long as it is black.I guess they could make them any color they wanted and would never need painted.
