wow, that's the cheapest i've ever seen them.so for $450 you could have a really nice setup. 255s get rediculous amounts traction.

 

I could buy the tires and rims then turn around and sell my TRD OR's and Rugged Fails and probably make a profit

i believe the part of the lug nut that the wrench goes on is longer on the sport lug nuts, but the part that actually toughes the rim is the same.

 

from my understanding ur lugs are fine, i think they say the trd offroad and sports use the same washer type, whereas the steelies use the acorn type

 

if this guy still has his, he said he would take $150, I was gonna buy them in December, but I had picked up a set in Maryland

it's just a pressure thing. p=f/a, pressure = force/area. force being the weight of the vehicle on each tire, and area being the contact patch. so the smaller the area of tire that contacts th ground, the larger the pressure. skinny tires for bite, wide tires for float. it's like when you're ice skating....you can turn and stop because the blade of the skate is very small, causing it to exert a large amount of pressure (pounds per square inch). if that blade were 4 inches wide, it would be very hard to manuver. same reason you sharpen ice skates, because when you told that skate on its side, and the sharened edge is all that is touching the ice, your surface area plumets, causing your pressure to jump.

 

depends on driving skill. i did fine in 2wd with 265s aired down, and probably had a lot more weight working against me. you'll probably do ok, i just wouldn't go alone, and bring the right recovery gear.

 

jesse, just an FYI my tires are $60 more per tire at a 17" rim over a 16" rim.
