Jen likes the rocks, and after seeing MJP2 rip his apart, its just not worth the $$$ and anxiety of having them on.

Also we dont want to drop $$$ of spring under conversion and new spring hangers.

Well the Defined kit uses the stock spring hangers/shackle bucket. So you only have to weld-on the spring-perch. Cliff (OakleyTRD on TTORA) has done some rock-crawling with kit and has had no issues.

On the SOA note; I'm running the AP Expo's with a Custom U-Bolt flip to run LR Bumps with it, it keeps up half-decent with my AP LT up front. I think with the standard leafs or Deaver's it would work slightly better, but it's by no means a SUA capable:cool:

    Fixed :p

And well I've never had the standard springs, to my knowledge they're not as stiff as the Expo's so they would compress better I would think :notsure:

I have yet to measure my uptravel but I'd estimate about 6" with my current setup, I think I'd get about 9-10" with a SOA:cool:

Ok. So here is what I am trying to do.

I will have (hopefully) about $4000 to build my truck in the next few months.
I do not want to build only the front or rear because it will be a while before I can drop $$$ like this again, so I want the best all around I can get for ~$4000 on parts

Take out $300 for sliders and $200 for tube bumper that's 3,500 to spend on suspension.. My goal is at least legit mid travel front and rear.

I have no issues with cutting in the bed, I have no issues with spring under IF they fit in my budget and do not mean neglecting the front suspension.

That is why we were thinking...
    - Bump all four corners ($1,000)
    - Front 2.5" remote resi shocks ($800 used)
    - Front UCAs ($300)
    - Progressive leaf pack ($500)
    - Shackle flip kit ($100)
    - Rear shock hoop (included in the days fab cost, already taken out of the budget)
    - Rear 10"/12" remote resi shocks ($400 used)

Any improvements that are within my budget would be awesome... But spring under will put me WAY over budget OR will mean I cant do anything to the front as far as I know..

EDIT: From the pics I have seen it looks like that rear set up would be as good as I can get with out going spring under or cutting into the bed (which are too expensive...) Also the front set up I have listed above sounds like the best I can get with out getting shock hoops or changing out LCAs for extended shocks which are also too expensive... (AKA sounds like the best with out going LT which is not in my budget) LOL but you guys know a lot more than me so I am open to suggestions...

Yup. roughstuff spring under kit fried on by me, it does well in the rock no issues whatsoever. Broke a U-bolt in the desert once though, that was a fun ride...

Might want to pick up a U-bolt flip kit too if you're going to rock crawl.

she cant afford SUA, we are trying to get the best travel and performance out of a bolt on leaf pack. I think king bumps and 10-12" shocks to a shock hoop like will's will be good and out perform all mid travel rears out there.

Defined kit is about the same with all the extra's you have on there. $1300-1500, paid a buddy to weld the spring perches on and you're done

I think what you've got there is good (SOA wise) for a list, see if you can find some used LR bumps that way you can install them yourself and save on the fab costs of installing the bumpstops.

Also, what are you trying to achieve with the new shock hoops?

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
i'm gonna listen in on this discussion. i've been thinking about that very setup. can't decide between under and over. either way there will be a bed cage, air bumps and a shackle flip.

i know there are some people on here running shocks virtically, how is that with axle wrap and an other differences that may cause vs the standard tilt?

I have been working on similar setups on my 1st gen. The biggest mistake was to much travel airbumps (4"). With the limited uptravel it was hard to get it to bump out at the right place and not add to much rebound to the suspension action.

you might even be able to score a set of bypasses in that size on DR or RDC... there are usually a ton in either 10 or 12 and run a fatty urethane bump instead of an air bump
