Nothing worng with Bigger 12Volt batteries in your truck...

just make sure your Ground are good. Your Batter should have 2 Ground leads.
1 for the body and 1 for the Frame.

make sure they are clean. Ask me how I know this.

 

I have a manual 03 4x4 tacoma and i did the grey wire mod and it works. it should be exactly the same steps as doing it for an auto.

I need some advice. I have a 1996 4x4 3.4L. I need to pull about 5000 lbs. I’m changing out the [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]clutch [COLOR=blue! important]fan[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]
with dual electrics first. What I want to do is the following:

Add a re-locate [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]oil [COLOR=blue! important]filter[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]

Add an oil cooler and trans cooler.
I’d like to add this cooler in the tool box in the bed (vented or course). If I had filters for both oil and trans with a cooler for both that is dual fanned, should I add an inline oil and trans fluid pump since it will be adding several feet of travel? I’ll be splicing into the trans line that goes to the radiator and cool it prior to it traveling thru the radiator. I wanted to cool the oil because of the load I’ll be adding but I don’t want it to loose oil/trans pressure if I custom install this design in the tool box.

I see fans on off-road buggies. Is it usually for oil or is it for the trans also in addition to radiator cooling?

Has anyone compared the intake mod to an actual CAI?

 

I dont know much about the decplate mod but im pretty sure its just a cheaper way to get more air. But i have an AEM brute force CAI and i noticed alot of gains. IMO when i dont have my foot in the gas tank i get better gas mileage as well.

 

I haven't done a direct comparison, but I have noticed better highway millage and throttle response. Also helps to keep it under 2500 rpms.

great site you posted the small spacers will solve my rubbing problem on my 2004 prerunner L4. running 265/75-16's on it. also am stoked cause i just installed a pushbar and winch (wich took a case of beer, drill, welder and alot of muscle. did have on uestion though. im rather unhappy with the performance of my runner in mild to moderate off road conditions, in particular the coventional rear diff. any suggestions on a good replacement axle or lsd chunk?

 

what about an air locker like arb makes?

 

If you're not happy with the way a two wheel drive truck offroads, you should get a 4x4. No kind of rear locker will make up for the lack of spinning in the front. Not trying to talk crap, I respect all truck owners for the reasons they need a truck. A work truck doesn't need 4x4 unless they're in colorodo and the chance of snow is 99%. Two wheel drive trucks should stay on the road. Get a 4x4 and you'll be much happier with Offroading. If you really don't care, it's a good thing you installed a winch, you're going to need it. Didn't sound offensive to me... It's true that nothing will make up for the lack of the front end spinning, but a locker in the back will be a huge help and upgrade from stock open diff. Look into Aussie Lockers to see if they make one for your differential size and if not try Lock Rite or No Slip (basically like other lunchbox lockers but operation is quieter). Just know your trucks limits, drive carefully, put in a locker and you should be good for most apps. Just don't expect to rock crawl or anything. =D

 

Obviously not rock crawling over here, but in mud and mild off roading that rear locker has made a world of difference when i put it on in 2wd. I'm not sure how much it would cost to throw one in. But if your keeping the truck and it doesn't have it now, I'd sure consider it. With-out the rear locker the thing would be near usless as soon as it leaves the road. Like a ford taurus with big tires on it. Look good, but lack in off road performance.... and it would still with the locker on many levels.

 

I bought my '04 DC 3.4 to tow campers and race cars, and since my driveway looks like Colorado, I got a TRD with the locker. HAVE NEVER REGRETTED IT! Looking back, it's amazing how much I use the thing. Am I subconsciously getting myself into more tough spots than I used to because I know I have the locker under there? Might be. But I'm really REALLY glad I've got it!
I've almost gotten stuck before, but not because of the locker. If my tires were a match for the locker, I'd never miss a beat. Time for new shoes.

 

Im adding aftermarket headlights to my 97 taco... the light already look ugly off the truck but i want hids.. Ill probably have it set up by end of nextweek just waiting on the hids to come in from asia...Anyone else done the lights mod with pics?
