It is the weekend and Jon is trying to get his business up and running. He told me the other day that he had a meeting to set up the LLC, so he has a lot going on. I think that we owe a vendor and small business man a little leeway. I am fairly confident that he will come through for us. He wants to build his shop and needs to start a grass roots following to help it along. None of us have any money invested yet, so be cool.

If he fails, then he does not want our business. he is taking a huge chance starting a company and possibly helping us out.

Everything is a trade-off. Tacoma stuff has to be stronger to handle the abuse off-road, so they're more expensive than Trans Am parts.

Trans Am haircuts cost a bit more, so it balances out.

I looked AT the 16 year old girls whose daddies bought them everything. I was younger, so it was ok. ;)

It was a 1966 coupe that I restored. It was my first big vehicular project so the car was very basic (6 cylinder, manual steering, manual brakes) and, expectedly, s-l-o-w. Still, it looked good so everyone wanted to race.

what do you think the forces of a road course or dragstrip does to a car? I am willing to bet a heck of a lot more than off roading.

No way. They have to overcome lateral accel, stopping, and accel, and thats it. Off roading has similar forces applied to the suspension, pluss the added excitement of large bumps, rocks rough roads, and landing from jumps. Thats why a car on a road course can get by with 4" of suspension travel. AND, Most cars are MUCH lighter than a truck.

that may be so...but you are also going 100+ mph around a turn which creates more lateral forces...?

1g+ of latteral accel is nothing compared to a 5000# truck falling from 4'+ in the air.....Or hitting a 2 foot bump at 60 mph. Thing is, road race cars have different forces applied to their suspension. They have MUCH thicker sway bars, firmer springs, smaller diameter tires, etc. The forces they experiance are different than a trucks. Its pretty easy to make a suspension strong enough to handle a hard corner. Its a different story to make one that can handle a landing, or 60 mph whoops, while keeping a 5000# truck suspended.
