    I worked in car audio for a while and have built several boxes, I actually had (4) 15's in my last car before I got my Tacoma.
    A box and system that I totally built and designed myself...
    If you want tight bass, then a sealed box is better. It will also be a lot easier, because trying to squeeze your port dimensions into an irregular shaped enclosure like that could prove to be very problematic.

    I have heard (2) 8's (done right) before that were nothing short of incredible!
    I would keep it simple, and do it right, the quality and design of the enclosure is just, if not more important, than what kind, or how many subs you have.

    I would do (2) 8's..

    You have other options besides just ported and sealed though. For instance, have you considered a 4th order isobaric single reflex bandpass?

    One of these would be more challenging to build but, it would be sweet because the subs would be fully enclosed inside the box, with only 1 port exposed on the exterior of the enclosure. I built one of these for (1) 12" before and they are pretty cool.

    I think that if it could find an 8ft pathlength he could build a 35hz tapped horn which would be crazy loud. If the divider was .5" it would take up less space too. I think it would be possible but you'd need to take over the center console area.

    Big problem I see is that you only have 5.25" wide. This forces you to side fire the woofer which also limits you on depth. Meaning, you can't use 90% of the woofers out there because 5.25-1.5 = 3.75" which is NOT deep enough for anything except shallow mounts.

    You need to work on making the box wider. Volume will increase exponentially since the width is by far your shortest measurement.

    Steven - the 5.25" width is internal, and that is not the OP posting it up. So they could realistically use a 6" depth driver. Or a pair of thin mount subs.

    Will - If you can do a little wider, and have enough room to do a side mounted 10, a pair of Type R thin 10" drivers should do well in a smallish ported box.

    I can get a 10x10 box down between the seat and console. I've got my measurement and a google sketch up incoming.

    :popcorn: Subbed (no pun intended). Keep this thread going as you progress. As we discussed, I want to find a bass solution as well, and this may be the thread for it.

    BTW - Where the hell do you guys learn this stuff? I read books on quantum mechanics, and that stuff seems easier than this stuff. :eek:

    I think I've got it worked out to how I want it. The main thing was the box and getting the air space I need/want.
