Fox 3" Lift - Need Advice

So I'm about to pull the trigger on this set-up along with what will likely be an AAL for the rear -

I have followed a number of threads for as long as my eyes can handle. I need as many reasons as possible on why I should NOT go this route and WHY.
I am still concidering the Icons front and rear but they come several hundred bucks higher than the deal above.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

 

I'd get the measurements on the rear shocks. They look different and remember someone saying the were to short. Something like 12" compression and 22" extension. Although they are 10" travel, I don't think they are the right #'s?? Also, the resi mounts on the bottom and seems more likely to get hit.

 

The ride diff between these sweet Fox's and low budget OME is zilch. Unless you're a high-speed desert racer, the Fox's will never get to use their potential. For 1/2 of that Fox package, an OME, 885/886 coil, AAL, and Light Racing UC will be just fine.

 

I am pretty confident that extra cash will pay in the long run. But this is exactly the type of feedback I would like to see. I'm open to the idea that this not the way to go and am looking for the cons when it comes to this set up.
I don't want to make this like many other threads and turn it into a mine is bigger than yours deal though.
I live in AZ and the trails I run are abusive. I drive at minimum 12 miles per week on rutted out, rock infested, wash boarded, roads. I like to drive it as fast and smooth as my ride can comfortably handle and don't abuse my rigs.
I get out on trails that require 4x4 about once per month give or take and depending on if I take out my other pride and joy which is full size Bronco.

Thats a good option too...I like how they did their rear shocks for the Taco.

I've been running a similar Fox/Total Chaos UCA setup 2 years now, no gripes. I'd suggest you avoid the Tacoma version of the rear shocks and get the FJ ones that have the resi at the top and not the bottom. So they will be valved wrong...ORW offers a free re-valve. They valved mine to 30/70.

Rear I have a Deaver AAL, it sagged out at 25k. Had them re-arched and they are doing pretty good now. So you could go with some OME Dakar leafs, Alcans, or All-Pro rear leafs if you wanted to avoid that, but an AAL will get you by for a while.

For reals? Zilch?? Can agree with that. Ride in a truck that has a proper ride height and valved properly and its gonna be smoother and more supple at speed in the desert. The OP is from AZ, so he might want to do a little mobdez action.

OME is a good setup, no argument there. I like the adjustability in a coilover. Light Racing UCA or Camburg (ball joint UCA) is fine if you wanna stick with the oem balljoint, or you can gain extra travel by using a uniball in say Total Chaos or Camburg.

OME isn't low budget, well at least not in a bad way...its good bang for the buck for sure. I think its a really good option if you don't want to deal with coilovers.

 

For what we have out here man and what conditions your driving......def get the higher end stuff. Extended travel and uniball ucas. The 3 leaf aal will be the smoother riding for sure and loved mine till it sagged and started bottoming out. Cal DSM and they'll hook it up and do a re-valve if you want. My vote is Icon and Fox but obviously king won't let you down either.

Sounds like the AAL might just be a bit more temporary than what I would like and I'm leaning toward a new rear pack.

 

So I'm slowly starting to make some headway on the final decisions of my lift... None of the online dealers show 2012 on the list of compatable years though. I've had an 06, 10, now my 12, and don't think there are any differences. But I don't want to be the guy to find out there IS a difference.

Any input? Can't do any calling around since it's Sunday...
