My passenger door has a few scratches on the side of them on the inside panel. Installed speakers and passenger door scratced concrete on inside corner when pulling panel off...pissed. Not really deep or noticable but i want them gone.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the heat method for smoothing them out? Read other posts about using a lighter, torch or blow dryer? Any advice or ideas.

I would try a heat gun, I wouldnt try a lighter I think that would just leave a black stain

If you decide to do it, post before and after pics. I have a couple of scratches on the back doors I would like to fix.

If I do I will definitely post some pics.

Need more input from someone who has tried this.

This crap make me nervous taking heat to plastic. Would rather my neice stick stickers on my dash than have a freaking burn hole from my dumb ass trying to fix a scratch.

How deep are they? I've used 0000 steel wool to fix scuffs. I'm not sure how well it would work on an actual scratch though.

They are not really that deep...but not light scratches.

The words "steel wool" just sounds like many more tiny scratches.

Plastic-x and fine sandpaper helped get out some smaller scratches caused by a stereo install.

Scratches in interior plastic are forever. Don't mess with it and make it worse.

Don't use an open flame. That will put black marks and bubbles. If anything a heat gun. I would practice on some scrap plastic that looks/feels the same first.

A junk yard for a Tacoma part....that was funny.

It's a small scratch and I have seen people post about fixing them. Just need more input before I even attempt

From what I can remember when you take it a shop they use a paint. They don't heat it or any thing they sand it a lil then use color match paint.

Don't know how hard it would be to find color matching interior paint. If ya do let me know

Rear leaf suspension. Home done tailgate re-inforcement.
    Here you go.

Get some 1500 grit wet and dry sand paper and wet it. Buff out the scratches but you will leave a dull spot in the paint even with that mild of a sand paper.

Get some Nu Finish polish and go to work in that area. Nu Finsh has a mild abrasive in it and after a bit of elbow grease, the dull spot will shine like new.

This coming from someone who has done it? They are so minor and not deep this could work.

I 'flame polish' acrylic with a propane torch all the time. Too little and it does nothing, too much and it burns the plastic; I would not risk it. And i don't believe a heat gun would be as effective.
