Those rear wheels still come past the front pretty damn fast...pretty light back there.

I think the light composite bed needs a bit of weight for snow either way .

I went from an '01 Xtra Cab, 6 ft. 'std.' bed to an '05 (and now a '10) Double Cab, 5 ft. 'std.' bed (the 6 ft. on a DC is a 'long bed')... It holds the same amount of cargo as my '01 6 ft. bed did because the second gen tacos are wider and deeper beds... makes up for the foot shorter length.

The standard 5 ft. bed is the only way for me because that is the only way to get the Off Road Package and the A-TRAC and Rear Locker make this truck so outshine all other models for traction it isn't even a thought. Another reason is I have a normal or perhaps small garage, and I couldn't get a longer truck inside fully.

If hauling lumber is your job, then a full size truck is probably best... but if you need a truck that can carry 4 adults or 2 + 3 kids comfortably and still have lots of room for ice chests and camping gear... the DC Off Road is great.

Back is big enough for a quicky :D

I like. I knew in the future i was gonna use the back seat for beach trips and such so i just got it. The bed is good size. if I needed a bigger bed I would just use the extender or use my dads tundra.

The standard bed is 6' , shared by the DCLB and the AC

The 5' bed is the shortbed

I like the look of the DBLCB, it looks sportier to me. I dont do a ton of off roading so the locking dif wasnt a big draw. The back seat is just fine for 2 adults or 3 kids. As big as a lot of 4 door cars.

Measure your garage! I have a tool chest in the back of my garage and I had to install a laser pointer to make sure I pull in far enough to keep the garage door from hitting my bumper. I have about 2" clearance on each end.

After reading all the posts, back seat room seems to be relative, as no one stated how far back they set their front seats. I am 6'5" and have my front seat all the way back, leaving little space for leg room in the back seats. I am surprised that people are able to get 3 teens in the back. I have two car seats in the back and with the front seats back, there is very little room for little kicking legs. I have some new car seats on the way and hope they will help the cause. Just my $.02

I saw a DCLB driving down I-10 last night.... it was sexy!!! First stock taco that ever made me think of selling my '98. Then I remembered that it is not available in manual.

Space is relative. I am 6'2 and I am not the tallest of my friends. So you have to figure out if there is enough room for YOU and YOUR average passengers.

DC is a good truck, it has ok room in the back ( same as the colorado and frontier) at least from my 6' frame sitting in the back. I as i sit i have 8" of room from the back of my seat to the back seat for leg room ( again i am 6' and like my space in the front.

my wife who is also 6' and likes to sit like a rapper in any of the 90's videos make the seat behind her unusable do to the tight space. (2" of leg room at about a 40* angle recline.

the bed is 5' and change and is good for most, i and most have added d links to the front of the bed. I also wish it had a cargo light.

    solid A in my book.

for all that are talking about the manual... the newer autos are getting better MPGs than the manuals. and the reliability is up there if not better then the manual due to the throw out bearing issues/ the clutch noise/ etc.

I have been looking real hard at full sized trucks and i hate to say it. I can buy two GMCs that are used with similar package as one used Tundra. In most cases you can get more from GMC... I say this to say if you are looking at full size search around... if you stay with a taco search around...

I put in car seats (Britax Frontier XT) for my children in my double cab (2 and 4 year olds) that sit more upright (i.e. 90 degrees) than regular child seats which tend to be more reclined for infants. The problem was I couldn't go to a booster seat yet for my 4 year old because she is too light. Surprisingly it wasn't my 4 year old who didn't have enough room because she is taller her knees bend at the right spot so her legs point down to the floor. It was the 2 year old that didn't have enough room because her legs stick straight out. She was constantly pushing against the passenger seat and thought it was hilarious, my wife as the passenger didn't think so. I am 5'11", my wife 5'4". If we were both tall it would be pretty tight.

    Here is a picture:

We will see, I have 2 DIONO RADIAN RXT CONVERTIBLE CAR SEATS on their way. They are supposed to be extremely safe and narrow, advertised as fitting 3 across in a mid-size vehicle. They are rated for infants, toddlers, and as a booster up to 120 lbs, so hopefully it will serve multiple purposes. My only concern is the base length, I am 6'5" and my wife is 6', and kiddos are sprouting quickly, so that rear space will fill up quickly.

It is not the width you need to be concerned about unless you plan to sit three across. The back seat of the Tacoma is very much straight up and down compared to your regular sedan, which most car seats are designed for. You need the car seat to be upright as possible. Edit: Just looked at a picture of those car seats you ordered, they look good.

Good point, ya they are pretty upright, but also have some recline features so kids don't fall asleep on road trips and rest their heads on their chests. We shall see.
