headrests in Doublecabs....tight fit when folded down?

I store job supplies in the back seat of my doublecab.
I have [2012] the lever actuated fold down head rests [back seat] and use the truck with seat benches folded up and forward, and the rear seat backs folded down which places the folded headrests TIGHT against the metal bottoms of the folded bench seats. I am concerned that the headrests are crushing the foam padding inside and after time might take a 'set'.
Guess I could remove them? Do they slip totally out of the seat tops?
Anyone else notice the tight fit?

 

Yes they are a very tight fit. They also block the view out the back window, I took my rear headrest off the first week I bought my truck.

 

Idk about the 2012 but in my 2010 when I fold the rear seats down I have to remove the head rests and slip the rods into holes in the back of the seat bottom, which is now vertical.

 

....gonna do that today. Do you store them under the seats or just toss into the garage?

Rod holes in edge of seat bottoms?? I'll look to see.

 

I don't know if the 2012's are different, but on my 2007, you have to remove the head rest from the seat, fold the bottom seat up, fold the back of the seat down then the head rests insert into the bottom part of the seat in it's folded up position (you'll see holes facing upward to put the seat headrests into). Again, that's for my 2007, I don't know about your 2012, just assuming it's the same.

Again, not sure about the '12's but on my '07 and '10 another thing I stumbled upon is the little pockets at the bottoms of the rear seat backrests that are designed to tuck in the female seatbelt buckles. This way when you fold the seats back up they don't stay under the seat. It used to drive me crazy when after I had been using the truck with the seats folded down, the whole family would get in the truck and just as we were ready to leave the kids would say in the back " Daddy, we can't find our seatbelts!".........Everybody out while I flip and dig for the buckles.....

The day I found the pockets the angels sang and a sunbeam shone on the truck.

 

Everytime I hear 'we can't find the seatbelt buckles', I just tell them they'd better hold on tight then.

Disclaimer: I don't have kids, if I did I would actually find the buckles for them. I'm not that ignorant.

 

Yea thank god I don't have kids.. Anytime my friends say they can't find them I just say you don't need them

 

I just tried both the buckle pocket (saw them before never knew what it was) and the holes for the head rest (never noticed them before) in my '11 and i heard the angels sing!!

Its amazing the amount of stuff that I have learned about my truck from everyone on TW. I love this site!

 

Did you guys know there's supposed to be a small elastic net for the center console?

Yea for that section closest to the passenger side. I made my own net for the inside of the lid to the center console

 

For '12 double cabs, the rear head rests flip forward so you don't have to remove them when folding the seats. I've noticed that it's a tight fit when the front seats are too far back. It looks like they left the holes in the seat cushions for storing the head rests if you decide to remove them when folding the seats down.

 

In the 12 the head rests fit in to the head rest storage slots on the bottom of the seats... visible when folded up...

Not sure why the fold down its pretty useless, if no one is back there you can fold them down for a better view, thats about the only use I can see... yes there are pockets for the seat belt buckles to fit in..

and I didn't get the freakn' little net in my 12.. bastards!

 

There was not in in my 11 either. Bastards

 

They probably flip forward so you can clean the glass behind them.
