Welcome to TW. Do you have a 3" lift and wheel spacers? If not, then no on the 285. The 275 you can run without spacers but will still need a lift I believe.

Also, for future reference, we have a wheels and tires subforum. And this is one of the most commonly asked questions on the site, so the search button is your friend.

ok, Im ordering the general grabber red letter tires! So , that being said i am buying the TRD 16" 7.5 10mm offset bead lock wheels. With this set up will i be able to go with 285/75/16 at factory height or is 265/75/16 my biggest option at factory height?? Thanks so much for any help! Aaron

Not that you asked but I see you're in WI. IMHO you might want to rethink getting the red letters if you're staying in WI. They're not the best on snow and were never designed to be. You could try having them siped I suppose.

Like I said, just my $.02.

ok ok , LOL~! Just want a bigger tire with out a lift. So 265/75/16 it is. Ya, the red letter grabbers are a month out anyway and I have decided to switch tires. Thanks for the 2 cents. It all helps! Im the General Manager of a new car store here in wi so I know my cars well. But I know my sprorts cars well. Not the trucks and what not! Thanks Again! Anyother 2 cents on tire selection is welcomed! Also is the TRD wheel bead lock a good wheel to go with?

I'm not sure about the wheel bead lock. I highly suggest the Cooper STT's. I've had them in the past and they did amazing in MOAB and through snow (you won't worry about this for the first season you have them). I'm ordering a new set to put on the truck. If you want to go bigger for your tires, get a deeper offset for your rims and swap out your front bumper or remove the plastic lining from your stock one (and maybe some cutting on the end of the bumper itself).

They came equipped on my T/X Pro. I love the looks of them but they are not a true bead-lock. It's just a ring on the outside of the wheel to give them the look. The only complaint I have with them is the ring/wheel combo acts like a "cup" and always gets packed with mud or snow. It's a rough ride until you get it all cleaned out. But they choice is up to you. :)

Huh, well I would think I could leave the ring off maybe? Might look good?? Oh, FYI , 275/70/17 BF AT does fit at factory height! Barely but it's fine! I have a set of brand new BF'S that size and they worked! I'm still gonna switch to the TRD 16" wheel but if anybody wants to know they do fit that big at factory at least. BF does anyway! Thanks Aaron

Also, based on the fact that my 275/70/17 do fit. Wouldn't be reasonable to assume with the TRD 10mm off set, which I believe will make the wheel stick out further from the control arm then the factory wheel. Is it safe to say I could go to a 285/75/16 tire with that wheel that pushes it further away? I am talking with a 2" lift. The guys at toytec told me a 285 will rub the control arm. But that was a factory wheel we were talking about! I'm not putting spacers on my truck! Any thought???

Hmm. 285's are pretty wide. I'm interested myself if they'll fit. Right now I'm researching tires for the "bead locks" with future 5100's and I have a feeling 275/75 16 is about all I'd be able to get away with without trimming and new UCA's.

    Still trying to decide...
So the 275/70/17's fit, no rub, bo trimming? I was under the impression that the largest I could get without trimming or lift was 265/70/17?

    Ya , no turning allowed

FYI , TW member Teamfast has 275/70/17 with a lift , but stock UCA's and he rubs the UCA at full lock

If you are at stock height and flex your truck at all and plan on turning , stick to 265/70/17

Makes sense. So 275/70R17 will fit if you drive in a straight line, will look great at the mall, just avoid flexing on the curbs, 265/70R17 for full articulation of the suspension and tight u-turns :D
