i figure you can't beat $13.50 for a full kit. normally i'd make my own, but with a full load of classes and two jobs on the side, time is tight, so i'd rather just pay a little extra and have it ready to weld. I will be using these on a tire carrier, not suspension if that makes any difference. also, anyone know if there's a place to buy a shock style mounting tab, cut to fit 1 inch tube? smallest i could find is 1.5''. i can cut that down to fit if needed. again, it's just minimizing hassle where possible.

When I order DOM they always warn me it could be from 18' to 24' long sticks but it's always atleast 22' or longer. I found a large metal supplier that's like 3 hrs away from me but they always deliver for free so no biggie.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
You can't go wrong with ruffstuff I buy tons of stuff from them Dan's a great guy. If you need something custom just call them they will hook you up. I get weld in washer custom milled to my specs from them for my rear diff skids and a few others things.

And those bushed sleves are a great deal you would have to buy 20ft of 2" .250 tubing to be able to make those yourself at that price.

Ok so my welder is starting to take a shit. A friend of mines dad gave it to me about 2 years ago and it has been working pretty well. It is a MM35 from 1974! Just recently the wire is staying hot all the time. Got on Millers forum and found out how to diagnose and replace the contactor.

Here is my problem. The gun itself is still the original gun and its horrible. They make an adapter to put new style direct connect guns but the adapter is $225. Then you add in the gun itself for at least $100 (has to be tweco to connect to adapter). So once I get a new gun, adapter, and contactor I am looking at $350-400. A brand new MM180 is ~$800 and I really dont want to put half the cost of a new welder into my old one that might die anyday. I really dont ever need to weld anything over 1/4" thick so I think a 180 will be more cost effective for me over the 211. I think I have already made up my mind but any advice?

Watch out for internals on the welders you buy at big box stores. Many manufacturers will use different internals with the same part numbers between welding supply shops and big box stores.

Hobart uses the same internals regardless of where you buy from. Lincoln and Miller...not so much, which is amusing since the Hobart uses Miller parts.
