Yes they did. You might want to check with a CU to see if U could refinance.

I got a 2.5% for my Taco back in December 2011. Had I picked a newer model, instead of a 2002, it would have been a 1.5%...

    I love my CU!

My apologies. I figured if someone has the cash to put down on a second house then they should be able to buy a used truck out right. Figuring you being an engineer in the military you are probably bringing home more than I am working in a warehouse. I was only trying to help by putting into perspective that paying interest vs gaining interest was not lucrative, since some don't look at that point. Perhaps I came off as rude, but maybe next time I should just keep my opinion to myself.

I'll try not to post in your threads any more. Good luck on your second house.

On my 07(bought new) I had 2.9%, but on my 03 I bought a year ago the best I could get was 7.9% through TFS since it was a used vehicle.
On the 07 my dad also co-signed, so that probably knocked it down since my parents have great credit.

The internet is for opinions and is mostly opinions, that get crowded out by porn, get rich quick scams and more porn, so say what you want.

I have the cash to pay off my truck right now, I just like having cash on hand incase something should happen, would much rather have cash on hand to pay medical bills or whatever, then to say I cant because I paid off my truck. So I do this understanding that loans cost money, thus my peace of mind costs me money. (about $700 over 5 years, small change; I think of it like insurance)

You really did you homework on me too.

Thank you for the invite back. I'm surprised the military doesn't cover your medical nor does your engineering job. That must be really hard so I understand your need to reserve your funds. Medical insurance is always a plus. Granted, I have always believed in saving for a 'rainy day'. You never know what cards are dealt to you. Like the fire in our TW family that we just raised donations for. Thanks for you contribution to that, by the way. :)

Never said I didn't have medical insurance. Either way rainy day funds are important though, more important than a paid off vehicle to me.

Again I must apologize. I got the impression from when you said:

But yes, to some, not paying off a vehicle is ideal! :) Just glad that everything is working out in your favor as is for me. [IMG]

Perhaps I am at the wrong banks and credit unions if the interest of a loan is lower than bank interest.

Not all medical fees are covered by insurance, and other things can come up in life to require a rainy day fund.

Your logic is sound, but when you make a simple statement like you did, you state the obvious and make the rest of us with auto loans think that you think we are morons, when we aren't, we just have a different financial situation than you. And anyone with an auto loan should know that making double payments or buying a car out right is cheaper, we just can't always do that. Not asking for pitty or money, just saying that stating such obvious thing is rude, unless you really think everyone is really that stupid.

    Whatever.

Like I said before everyone is entitled to their opinion, That is just mine, and I have been told several times today that I am an asshole.

    Wow.

You really took what I said out of context. My first post was a point that I had made to a young man the other day who was excited about buying a car and didn't think about the gains vs losses. As you can see by another post, I had given a tip about how to pay off the loan faster and still get points. How are any of your posts in this thread helping others? I also pointed out that this is what worked for ME. No where did I say anything derogatory towards anyone else about the interest they are paying. That is only YOUR perception. You CHOSE to look at it that way.

I also asked you why you wanted to know what others were paying, and you didn't answer me. Were you perhaps trying to see what others have paid in order to feel good about the percentage you are paying? Therefore, making others feel bad for paying more than you? What exactly is the point of your inquiry? Just wondering.

You seem quite sensitive about money issues.

But then again, I thank you for your generosity and for contributing to the donation thread for the fire and loss of property we had here on TW.
