auto trannys have engine driven pumps....

thus....when you are high speed and low rpm (ie coasting in Neutral)...the pump isnt driven that much...


THUS....PREMATURE TRANNY WEAR!!!!!

Thats why toyota doesnt not warranty tranny repairs when you tell them you coast in neutral

so we're waiting on the insurance to reinspect the vehicle at the auto body shop....

1. insurance inspected and gave estimate
2. body shop inspected and contacted insurance
3. insurance needs to check out body shop and their findings. and approve or disapprove
4. ?????? if approve, request to have check sent to me instead?

yes tell the insurance company to have the check sent to you because you are not sure when you will have time to drop off the truck, and you will need to coordinate your logistics around the repairs.

 

i heard that if you coast in neutral while engaged in A-TRAC will save wear and tear on your transmission, since the exclusive brake hydro-booster is doing all of the work..

California Law says insurance company cant tell you where to get your car fixed, you have the right to take the money and go where ever you want

thats good to know for future reference..

when my taco got t-boned i requested a certain body shop to do the repairs, but since that particular place was not one Farmers Ins list of approved body shops. Farmers Ins. said they would need to send out an adjuster to inspect everything. and that it could take up to several weeks before they could get out to it, unless i made an appointment to go to one of their inspection facilities. i thought BS in the way they wanted me to go to one of their approved facilities, and how hard they tried to make it to use the place i wanted. and what was even worse, if i waited for them to go and inspect my taco, which could have been weeks Farmers would not pay for the rental.
