This is a problem my two have. It doesn't stop them from falling asleep though, but their heads loll a bit. Not much can be done about it.

I love my double cab over the access cab. There is lots of room. Two adults and a kid in the back have plenty of room. Short beds look kind of chopped and goofy on a double cab.

Reasons not to get a access cab. With the retarded backasswards doors. And I had them on an 2006 for 5 years. I hated them.

If you have a full bed and want to put groceries in the back seat? With cars next to you. Forget it!
Trying to get things in the back seat while parked with cars next to you is a pain in the a$$.

Kids? Can't do car seats backwards. They are ok for kids not in seats but still not adult size.

I could go on and on!

I didnt really want a long bed when I got my Taco, but it it turns out to have been really useful. Ive been able to move a lot of things that I wouldnt have been able to with a short bed. As for the room in the back seat, I have 2 kids that will more than likely be 6' + some day. After a lot of research, I felt there was more room on the Taco than any other make I considered. I have been very happy with my purchase and wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

I've had 5 adults packed in my truck on several ocassions, there seems to be more room in the DC 2nd Gen than the DC 1st gen, atleast my foot doesn't hit the Bpost when I turn to get out.

As for LB/SB I went LB because I can haul more fire wood, more dirtbike gear, and more manure.

I'm very pleased with my DC when I'm hauling my two kids or my 3 idiot friends.

Personally, I find the room in the backseat to be pathetic. I'm 6'2" with long legs, so my ideal driving position has the front seat all the way back, which you basically can't fit a person in the backseat with. And the leg room goes away quick in the front when you scoot the seat up to make it tolerable for those in the back. I did a trip from KS to CO with 4 adults and I will never do that again. The people in the back were 5'10" and 5'3" and both were miserable. Interior space is the #1 reason I will be upgrading to a full-size for my next truck.

The back seat has about the same room as a corolla. They are not as upright as the Frontier seats. A tall/large person might find it uncomfortable for a long trip. I am 6' 2" and have ridden in the back before and it is a bit tight on leg room. I would imagine if you were 5' 10" or less it would be roomy. A touring vehicle it is not.:D

Love the double cab. I have and 11 and 8 year old. DC plenty of room. Short bed works fine and is good for off road. I do still miss the departure angle of my JK Unlimited.

I'm on my first Toyota, and considering my wife says I have to drive this till I'm dead my experience is going to be limited. I drove a Frontier, and Pathfinder previously. This SR5 Tacoma DCLB is definitely an improvement over the base model frontier king cab I had in a big way. The Tacoma is pretty cozy physical comfort, and drive wise. My girls are young, and are plenty comfortable back there. Adults also fit comfortably, the strangest thing about the Tacoma is with me being 6"2" I actually have my driver seat pulled forward as it makes driving way more comfortable. There is plenty of room in the bed a plywood sheet fits in with a canopy though the hatch stays open. I almost wish I would have gotten a short bed as digging tools out of the bed is a knee killer, and the risk of high centering increases with the longer bed. These second generation Tacoma's being wider then previous mini trucks is really nice there is plenty of elbow room, with out having to try to park a giant land yacht. I've done a few long hauls with 3 adults, and two kids, and it was tolerable.

Hey your rack? I have a kargomaster that looks just like that but is black. Is your painted silver or is it aluminum? The crappy power coat on mine is rusting through and dripping rust on my white paint. I have been thinking of getting it sandblasted and galvanized? That is not going to be cheap. But if they make in aluminum?

I got the double cab for two things.
    Looks and space.

IMO i think the double cab short bed is the best look for a tacoma. Not to small and not to long. Access cabs seem pointless to me and regular cabs are so off looking to me.

I figured its good to have the space if i ever need it, I dont haul much so i gave up some bed space for some cab space, Still satisfied with the decision, Especially when the girlfriends kid wants to ride in my tacoma :) Car seats fit perfectly.

That rack is the stock color, they must have changed the color just in the last year. As of last June they were advertising the silver, I'm having a little rust coming out the ends.

I really like this rack, the shape is easier on the eye then the other canopy mounts look to me. The size really jives with the long bed. I really have to get a airdam of some sort on the front of that thing it makes a shitload of noise at speed.

Does anybody else find it easier driving with the seat farther forward, or am I just rounding the bend to geezerhood? Seriously using the pedals, and steering wheel is totally comfortable with the seat midway forward.

I started researching in 06 when these came out, I was in love, Waited till 2008 and knew exactly what I wanted- the dbl had more interior and rear overhead and leg rm than ANY other sm/mid sz suv or truck at the time, I move a lot n really wanted a full sz bed, but driving one with a dbl was RIDICULOUS they r long enough with a short bed. I knew I could get the extra2' with those awesome bed extender bars if I needed, so I was happy with that. Beware these tailgates r notorious for weakness tho, I jus try n go easy on mine n haven't had problems yet. As far as the backseat-had baby in there frm day1, now 3yrs old facing front n she's about outta rm since ther legs r forced t2stick straight out-if I were more than 5'2" we'd hav a problem, ok on head clearence &shes tall-once she looses the baby seat &can bend legs, it'll b spacious again. Adults hav no prob as long as frnt passenger isn't 6' or leaning seat back...in that case u should really go for a tundra :/
This truck is PERFECT sz for a small woman ;) only one I had no trouble seeing over the dash in lol

There is a product out(search online, idunno what it's called) that attaches to the belt, or carseat? And holds their head up while they sleep :) its like a pillow or something, very cool.

I've found my DCLB to be everything I was looking for. Lots of room in the DC, I find the backseat roomy enough for adults and my six foot son is comfortable back there. I could never do with a 5' box, I sometimes sleep in the back of the truck when camping, and its nice to have the option of closing the gate if the weather is snotty.
When I'm driving on long trips, I tend to move the driver's seat to different positions, just a couple notches so that my seating position changes just a bit. I find it helps with driver fatigue.
My wife has an access cab and I too find the back doors awkward but not a deal breaker...

backseat is good enough - not "super roomy" as stated by others - all else is fantastic. - would not trade for silverdo or f-150 for too many reasons to mention.

    god bless
