I have rear tsb and 5100s @ 1.75 . My front is lower than the rear , still am considering going to 2.5 but for now I'm thinking about just fixing the taco lean on the drivers side . My question is where I can get one of these 1/4 top spacer and what are some opinions on adding the spacer. Thanks for any input

Plug in your TW data and get your discount....check vendor's forums.

A real Taco lean "trim packer" sits on the spring seat with the OME system.

How long have you had the rear TSB??

If you haven't had them very long - throw 200lbs in the bed and leave it there for a month. The rear will settle.....

Then, after its settled...you can decide if you need to level it out or do anything with the front.

Are you just looking to get rid of the Tacoma lean or the Tacoma rake?

I am not 100% sure but I think the top 1/4 spacers are for the Tacoma rake and the trim packer is for the Tacoma lean. Hopefully someone can confirm but Toytec does sell both.

It says that it only works for the OME coils so maybe the spacer is what you are looking for.

The trim packer is only for the OME (Old Man EMU) setup.

The spacer is only 1/4" thick and will give you 1/2" of lift. That goes ontop of the coil assembly (inbetween the coil assembly and the mounting pocket).

But wait.... You have 5100's in the front. Why don't you just crank the low side up a bit? No spacer needed...

Just a clarification , the OME trim packer , only for use with the OME shocks , goes at the bottom of the coil

The 1/4" Toytec spacer , for use with 5100's , goes on top of the coil

I feel like setting the left side to 2.5 and leave the right at 1.75 wouldn't ride correctly . I don't know , maybe its mental . Also why does the 1/4 spacer net 1/2 inch of overall lift ?

You're right...it'll proload the spring. Whether its enough to 'feel' it....????

The shock/strut is mounted on the lower a-arm, about 1/2 way between the pivot point and the end of the lower a-arm. Hard to explain....

If the shock were mounted at the end of the a arm - you'd get the 1/4", but because its mounted in the middle - you get twice the throw for that 1/4" (approx - in leayman terms anyway)

I wouldn't monkey with dissimilar preload like that.
I would use the 1/4" top plate spacer to correct the lean on the driver's side.
BTW, what is the difference between the driver's front and the passenger front ?

Good explanation Janster, on spacer/net lift relationship.

You have OEM coils and have the taco lean?

The lean is usually 3/8 to 1/2 inch. Even if you went dissimilar on 5100s the incriments are right at or right over 3/4 inch and would just cause it to lean the other way. I didn't have the lean on the 08 prerunner and didn't want to lift like on the 05 so I just used 2 lean spacers, 1 on each side to get 1/2 inch lift up front to level truck when swapping out the base tokicos with the oem TRD bilsteins.

I had oem coils and lean on 05 prerunner AC and oem coils and no lean on the 08 prerunner RC.

I remember the first gen trucks - the OEM coils were side specific. Sometimes folks would get them swapped.

Are the 2nd gen trucks side specific also?

I could have sworn I read they were because people have put the coils on the wrong side and had some serious lean. That being said, I took my stocks off and I'll be damned if I can tell the difference between the 2 sides but I don't know how else to explain the need for a trim spacer on the driver's side when you go to an aftermarket coil. There isn't a spacer for the stock coils :notsure:

You gotta count the amount of windings in the coils. One of them will have an extra winding in it.

I'll check tonight, I have the stock take-offs sitting in my garage but to the OP, did you put the coils back on the side they came off?

    Yes, they are side specific.

The second gens dont have another wind, but rather the driver side is a tad longer.

Depending on where you start counting the windings....it'll have an extra winding. :p:p:p:p
