Why would you recommend for someone to steer clear of something that you admit knowing nothing about? Clearly your guess is not that educated.

How'd those tires balance John? They look good.

treadwrights have a great reputation. The treadwrights on the truck above will be the next tires for my DD.

Fire trucks, ambulances and airplanes use retread tires...so can I.

They balanced real nice, actually better than the BFGs that came off of it.

Nate, you are right, they are not likely better than the originals, but at almost half the cost, I am certain that they are way more than half the tire. I got them to save a fair amount of money and to have a first-hand experience with them. I will report, good or bad on their performance. I have no fear of them coming apart any more than any new tire I have ever used.

cool, my 265 BFG's took quite a bit of weight as well. I may look into those in about 60k miles when I replace these.

They use inspected "carcasses" of other tires.

Almost every BFG copy I have seen are on BFG carcasses.

They were 117 shipped for the rotors from brakeperformance.com
I got the pads from work (Carquest Autoparts) I did the BCD series pads. Great quality for the money and I've had good luck with them wear/performance wise

As far as I know you can't use retreads on the steering tires on semis, but they are fair game for any of the other 16 tires on a big rig. I really want treadrights for my next tires so I will actually be able to afford BFGs but am nervous about tread separation; I will be interested to see how these hold up.

Retreads can be used anywhere on a semi, just depends on how much faith you have in a retread. You can even retread a retread. I run virgin tires on my semi but retreads on my trailer. I have only had one retread blow and I have been driving almost 9 years now. I don't know about retreads on small cars and trucks but retreads on semis are pretty tough.

The NTSB did a study on tire carcasses on the side of the road and slightly more than half of them were from new tires vs retreads.

Yeah most blow outs are due to improper inflation/overloading of the tire. The inspection process the tires go through before they cap them is pretty intense. I wouldn't be worried about a tire failing because it had structural damage from its life before it was capped. Plus most places cap the used tires you give them so you know the history of the tire.
