2,500 ? Yiiiikes ! Sh!tcan all those vendors that contributed to that price.
Might as well buy a KAC, Larue, Noveske, Daniel Defense fully assembled !

You should be able to build a nice "parts gun" for $700 - $800.

Or just buy a Colt or Spikes for a little more.

No personal experience but I know that a special wrench is provided to deal with the barrel nut. They don't make you figure this out on your own :)

    A nice one....

Just read on the Ar forums that SIG will not sell spare parts for their 516. You must buy the part from them and send your gun in to the installed in house. The do have a spare parts kit, but its always on backorder. Very dumb. I'll get their P226 and find an LWRC. Thinking about the M6A2 :D

I have the M6a2, in 6.8. Next to my Savage 22-250 with accustock/trigger it is the most accurate rifle I have ever shot. Off the bench at 100 yards it is a tac driver.

This is what KAC tried to do to the military.....told us all we could do was remove and clean the BCG and punch the barrel.

Why piston AR because your .308 DI AR in 100 years absolutely positively can not do the things contained in this video. Especially the stuff from 2:00 to 3:30 you could only dream of doing that move at the end. It doesn't take a genius to realize that is only a good thing.

    th_REPR762mm_f471b98b0de4a6d98b7ebc461c94142dfbd16cd7.jpg

I own several piston guns because I used a DI gun in the Marines. Anyone who will tell you they are good enough never had one slow down on them when it counted. For most people they are good enough, but when government procurement procedures and budget constraints are not a part of the equation, I purchased what I perceived as the answer that could have helped me when my chips were down with a weapon that shits where it eats.

    BCM upper $400
    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-M4-16-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-m4-16.htm
Lots to chose from. I just listed this as an example. I think everyone can agree that a BCM standard 16" carbine is good to go

    BCG 100-140
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/upper-parts/bolt-carrier-groups/palmetto-state-armory-premium-5-56-bolt-carrier-group.html

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Bolt-Carrier-Group-MPI-Auto-M16-p/bcm%20bolt%20carrier%20group%20auto%20mp.htm

    Charging handle

BCM gunfighter CH $45. I had the medium latch and I really liked it.
    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Charging-Handle-s/123.htm

    or a normal one
    $17
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...handles/milspec-ar15-m16-charging-handle.html

    Lower $80-$150

pick whatever roll mark you like the best :D

lower parts kit. Lots of choices here. anywhere from $40 and up.
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/parts-kits.html

    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/build-kits.html

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-Lower-Parts-and-Kits-s/46.htm

or you can buy a build kit and get most of the parts all at once. Ive built two rifles this way and its a really good value

    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/rifle-kits.html

If you are in no hurry I would say wait till the next holiday season. Troy was offering 30% off most of their products (I got two sets of free float handgaurds). PSA had their lowers for $50. BCM was offering 10% their stuff.

Shouldnt have to wait for holiday season on the lowers...PSA puts them on special about every 3 or 4 months

At Shot show LWRC is showing their DI BCG. There is supposedly A LOT of good improvements on it. EXO coated, one piece BCG and gas key, and a new Advanced Combat Bolt (ACB2) that has a wider purchase on the case's lip.

Here is a VERY early prototype.
