Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase two 10" subwoofers. Being limited in space with the double cab, what would you guys recommend as the hardest hitting shallow subwoofer? I only listen to Hip Hop and Rnb. I like to feel the bass hit hard against my chest. Of course i'll only listen to it this loud on the freeway :) Anyways, would the IDQs suffice? or would a Kicker be better for me? I went to the local audio shop and they recommended these MA Shallow mount subs. i wanted to get your opinions before I make the purchase. Obviously, spl is more important to me but if there's a sub that has good spl and sql, then I dont mind that as well. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

If MA is supposed to stand for Memphis Audio, I would say that they build a quality product (I like my amps and find them to do a reliable job for 4 years of service!).

If you are going for shallow mount, you should step up to a larger cone. Memphis makes a 12", and JL does a 13". My understanding is that a larger cone area provides a deeper, slower sound, while a smaller cone provides faster, punchier sound (a standard 12" is your median).

There isn't one best brand (since everyone hears different and thus you are trying to measure opinions from one person to the next), so this might mean you need to listen and find for yourself. Note that there isn't any one sub speaker "made" for SPL or SQL, it's a matter of install.

    Speaking of which... installation:

for sheer SPL, it's really going to be hard because of the space, so you may need to accept some limitations. Due to the sound you want, I would see if there's a possibility for a ported or vented box. This design usually calls for a larger overall box, but again makes the box work more towards your musical style.
Not that it's a possibility in this application, but I think I should mention that bandpass boxes aren't really that great. They make the sub operate at a single, tuned frequency - great for cheap gear, but completely nerfs the ability of a decent setup. It's like having an awesome piano, but all you can hit is one key.

MA audio stands for Mobile Authority......not exactly the choice of champions. Two 10" IDQ's on about 1000wrms of power should suffice. You WILL NOT get the output of a larger enclosure like I think your looking for but that is due to space NOT the subs themselves. For the money and for pure SQ as well as getting loud the IDQ is TOUGH to beat. Might want to consider the 13tw5 from JL though, beautiful driver and I am hearing VERY good reviews from the Taco guys that have installed them.

Not much to see, Image Dynamics XS69 comp set in the doors, and 2 10" IDQ's behind the seat with a Sundown 1500D and a Sundown 100.4 all ran by a Pioneer 800PRS. Like I said it isnt flashy and appears stock.

Wow. Thanks for the great advice everyone! I think I'm going to stick with 2 IDQ10's. I just purchased the box on ebay last night too. Thanks for all of your help.

The IDQ10v3 could technically be called an 11" sub and it has a much larger than typical cutout diameter of a 9 5/8" so be sure it fits the enclosure! (I had to make modifications to atsaubrey's enclosure in order for them to fit)
