One of my front corner bulbs has burnt out.

I know for my first gen i need bulb 168.

My question is this... Would it be dumb to go ahead and get LEDs instead of a normal bulb again?

If I did get LEDs, should I get white or Amber? I know you're suppose to get LEDs the same color as the lens, but the corners on my 2002 are clear and then have some amber on the side.

Also, would I need 360 degree LEDs or would it be better to get a smaller beam angle?

I'm looking on superbrightleds.com and trying to figure out which to order from them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!

I wouldn't do LED, but if you do make sure you get amber.

The LED's won't work as well typically as the plain cheap standard bulbs.

If the front marker lights put out a color other than amber, it will be confusing to other drivers.

    Why would it be confusing?

They aren't my turn signals, they're my parking/daytime lights. I still have the stock amber turn signals in my lower bumper area, these don't function as turn signals at all. And upon closer inspection, I believe the lens is clear with an amber reflector on the side.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, just trying to figure this out.

I run LED parking/corner lights, they work fine... Mine are the 360 degree kind.

the color depends on how legal you want them to look (or if you want them to be legal...)

I run white with amber blinkers, like the look. I'll post a pic in a sec.

So, if I got the 360 White LEDs for the corners and amber for the blinkers, that'd be legal right?

Also, What's the advantage/disadvantage to having the non-polarized LED?

No, the only lights that should be white on the vehicle I believe are the headlights and the reverse lights.

Not sure if anyone would stop you for it, though.

    ^^
    This

you'd have to check your state laws; usually all lights beside the reverse, tail and headlights are supposed to be amber.

it depends on how strict your law enforcement is.

for me, euro-style clear corners are illegal :anonymous:

i moved my turn signal to my corner markers, and have a white bulb. only the reflector acts as yellow. i also have had 6k 55w HID's for a month and drive 250-400 miles a week, half of that at night. ive yet to been pulled over.

my corner markers/turn signals are in a dual fillament bulb though which i to would be interested in a new corner/led's. BUT ive yet to find any i like, dark.

Well, I went ahead and ordered some 360 degree, non polarized warm white LEDs for my corners... I'll post in this thread again once I get em in and installed.

Also ordered LEDs for my dome/map light.

Seriously? In those older gen trucks, too? I feel sorry for the other drivers. :(

Got them yesterday! Installing the corners on saturday.

I tried to install the LED in my map light... it didn't fit. it was way too long. So, going to return it and see if I can't find one that is the proper size somewhere.

Some of the leds are going to be really big. I know when I put mine in they didn't really fit, kind of a pain to get out. I couldn't get a connection either. I put them back in the other way and pushed them in and they worked and just fit lol. The LED's that I got were all around the light housing. They were from Eurolight. I just got the same bulb as the stock one(168/196), just in LED.

If you plan on doing a Dome light the one that is in there(oem) is a 1.75" tube. I got a 1.75" LED and didn't fit. I went down to a 1.50" and it fit perfectly.

Can you show us a pic of the LED's you got for the map lights?

    I hope this helps!

See, I've got a standard cab, so my interior lighting setup is a bit different from yours.

    Here's the setup I have.

The LED bulb was about 1/8" too long.

Here's how they look. I'm extremely pleased with them.

First pic is headlights and corners and the second pic is just the corners.
