Bluetooth Audio - Streaming Question

For those of you with BT Audio, when streaming from my Droid phone, the display simply says "Streaming" .....the manual indicates I should see Artist/Song info when pressing the Text button.

Is there a footnote or something I am overlooking in the manual?

 

It's the radio software... As far as I have seen it only give that info when connected to an iPhone. I have an iPhone and you can see the info over BT, a friend has a older droid and he tried it on my truck, and just like you it just said streaming...

So far with the iPhone it will also tell you all the info from last.fm, pandora, and iTunes ..

 

Ok..thanks for the info......maybe at some point in the future they will update radio software to include droids. I may contact Toyota to see if anything is in the works on that.

 

I just confirmed what you said. My son has an iPhone. I added it as a bluetooth player and the artist/song info does display when streaming from his phone.

I sent an email inquiry to Toyota...response in 2 business days is the expectation, per their site.

 

It's still pretty nice being able to stream, even without the info. I like how good the BT audio sounds too..

FYI, album covers and info DO display from my iPad.

 

my iphone showed streaming as well too until i updated my iphone to the new software update. after that it showed the artist and title

 

You guys don't have the stock Jbl series do you? If you do I've never been able to get bt to work.

 

Edit. I see you all have the 2012. Maybe that's why I've never been able to.

 

Most head unit software both factory and aftermarket has more features when used with an iPhone. It will likely be this way for quite a while the reason is there is only one platform for the iPhone and many different companies make android phones and the software in all of them is slightly different. I have had people asking for aftermarket units that controll android like the iPhone for years unfortunately other than Bluetooth music they don't have the same connectivity options as iphone

 

Guys, I have a '11 Tacoma and a new iPhone 4S. They are paired for phone use and the steering wheel controls work for calls, but I don't know how to stream music from the phone. Can you explain how to enable this? BTW - I have the upgraded JVC stereo with subwoofer.

When I initiate the pairing of a phone, the "truck" asks me if I would like to also use the phone as a Bluetooth audio player. I say "yes" then proceed as prompted.

I sent Toyota.com an email inquiry about a week ago about no display from droid phone. The systematic response is "expect an answer in two days". Instead of getting an answer, I get an email solicitation for a customer satisfaction survey. So far.....no answer from Toyota but what platinumb says sounds logical to me......but I hope he is wrong and something can change soon.

 

That would be the difference in the 11's and the 12's head unit. the 12 has deeper integration in iOS (iTunes).

 

Without a firmware update for your radio, it will probably never show you the info for a droid phone... there are just too many flavors or android out there to make it worth it for a factory stereo to support them all (iphone is one platform)

Has anyone successfully connected their droid phone using the USB port? I get an "USB ERROR" message.

 

I have yet to see an android work over any factory USB connection as far as I know none of them do it yet.

 

The reason you don't see anything on the 12' systems for Bluetooth audio is that the phone you're using has to support AVRCP 1.3 or higher. Apple started supporting that protocol in iOS 5, so that's why after the update there's artist and album data.

Just updated my iphone4 to Ios 5, and despite the fact I now cant find any of my music (I hate apple), I did load one song and it finds it and displays soundtrack information now. Before it just said "streaming'

 

I bought a cable at Radio Shack (double male) and plug my Droid into the AUX port and it plays my music just fine in my 2012. Could not get the music to play with BT. My BT works great with my phone calls though.
