As an Airframes Mech who and when do you talk to people that this has happened to? M16 series guns run great when maintained. The reason I say that is that I was an 0351 (Infantry Assualtman) and have seen damn near all run just fine. Only when a dipshit failed to maintain his weapon with lubrication or a parts breakage did I see things go south. Half the time it was the shitty GI mags we were issued.

All those fancy coatings don't mean shit if you don't lube the gun. For an example of one: My DI LMT MRP with 10.5 barrel has been through an EAG Tactical Class and 2 action rifle comps with a 2000+round count in the last 2 months with no malfunctions. So far firing with only adding lube to the BCG.

Look at your BCG - if there are any shiny spots, those are the spots to lube above all else. Doesn't have to be much - I put a drop or two there plus one single drop in every hole after any period of extended storage (4-6mo) and after every trip to the range.

I wasn't always a 6092 I also have to add adding lube is great if you aren't working in a sub zero environment. If you want to know anything further take it to the PMs.

This is because it's Chinese crap.

When the Chinese attack us, they will have good American optics on their weapons.

Gonna be using the the gun for just about everything. It would be nice to be able to have quick target acquisition at close range as well as be able to reach out and hit a 4" target at 200-300 yrds.

Do they make any red/green dot Scopes with maybe a 4x magnification that wont break the bank? I don't want to spend more than 200-250

The cheapest 1-4x I would recommend is the Leatherwood. I highly recommend 30mm tubes, they allow much easier "both eyes open" shooting. The Leatherwood actually has OK glass and is pretty durable. A friend runs one on his 3-gun rig and it has held up well. $300 on sale right now.

Or there's the Burris TAC30, which has an annoying push-button illumination switch and a donut reticle that would be good for close-up work but tougher for long distance stuff.

    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/46...m-illuminated-ballistic-cq-reticle-dark-earth

If you really want to stick to around $250, you can go with the Nikon AR-series. $260 right now. I think if you looked through both scopes though, you'd agree that the $40 extra is worth it for a 30mm tube.

    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/338333/nikon-m-223-rifle-scope-1-4x-20mm-bdc-600-reticle-matte

And the cheapest cantilever mount I would recommend is the AR Stoner at $70 or the Burris PEPR for about the same. No throw levers but rock solid and well made.

I can't recommend others, I use Pmags. I don't know of any others that are as light, durable and reliable. There probably are others though.

You'll have to hunt around at the low end of what has been working in the 1x -4x illuminated class.

I think I'm going to throw down for the Vortex.....around $500.

I've seen instructors post where they have noticed the blacks to be the most reliable.

In metal the current favorite is NHMTG.

It all varies as time goes by, companies change hands, good lots get sold out, etc., etc.
