Springs are in and plate placed. Is there a trick to tightening the ubolts down..

 

criss-cross pattern like tighting lug nuts. >< Tighten evenly so equal amount of thread and torque to recommended value.

Had to remove mine from a mild vibration and reinstall, alas the vibe was gone. But after installation I would wait a week or 2 before cutting the studs to the appropriate length.

You may need to get an impact on those bitches. It ships with locknuts and they can be a PITA to get all the way snug.

 

Part of my issue was that I placed the Timbren bump stop before I tightened down the ubolts...so I removed those.
The other problem was the nuts supplied with the kit were junk IMHO...They were worse than a pain in the ass to tighten...so I used the old nuts and washers and they worked like a charm. Gotta grind down the Timbren mount to make it fit with the taller nuts. or maybe get shorter nuts.

Probably also going to order the OME AAL for the Dakars. And I need to figure out what to do about the lean...It's bad.

 

make sure to re-torque after about 50 miles, and then after a tank or two of gas again. They like to settle and work loose for a little while.

 

Wasn't there a thread on the dakars having a "a", "b" side and if you install them on the opposite sides you will have a lean. When I installed mine I did not notice any "lean" so I must have installed them the correct way. Maybe it wAs one first gens only but I thought the thread was on 2nd gens also? Can u post a pic of the lean.

 

Yeah-Retourque's are always on my list.

Mine aren't labeled and the thread had a link to an explaination of why they are labeled... I take that to mean the unlabled ones do not have a side bias. I don't really feel like having to swap sides...but we'll see.
I'm also going to try to put the AAL in and maybe fit an extra-extra leaf into the driver side.

so i just ordered this kit and should have it next week....would you suggest not even try the provided nuts and get some new ones? or did your factory nuts work fine?

is everything else fairly straight forward?

 

Put the Timbrens together but do not install them on the ubolt plate. Make sure you've got a jack and some jackstands.

I'm happy with the ease and feel of the factory nuts to install it....Give the AllPro ones a try- but keep those factory ones close.

i won't be going with the timbrens most likely...going to run no bumps until i get the truck up on lift and take some measurements...thinking daystars mounted from the frame...
