Lets make this clear. I AM IN NO WAY A BOSTON FAN. I JUST HATE THE RANGERS MORE so there isn't any blinders.

I disagreed with the "Charging" Call, if anything it was boarding like I said before.

Rule 42 - Charging
42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

Per that breakdown IMO I don't think it happened. Ference didn't jump into McDonagh, he didn't violently check into him, his momentum took him into McDonagh after the play and didnt have a good edge and he went down hard.


Looks like Boston n Rangers both got 6 Power Plays each.

Call the infraction what you want, what Ference did was dangerous. This is the point here, and this is why Ference will be suspended. Yeah the definition of 'Boarding' more closely describes the infraction. Whoopty f'n Doo! While Ference didn't push hard, he didn't have to in this situation. It doesn't make it less wrong.
