yeah I wanna take a look at everyones skids at the meet and see what I like more and go from there

 

Yea im waiting for someone with our bumpers to try out Hadix's or MetaMillers.

 

I may just go with skidrow.. Im slightly worried about how hadix's belly pan will hold up without a crossmember... does metalmiller have a belly pan

 

mmmm actually i don't think Metalmiller does..

And even Bud builts belly pan doesn't have a huge cross member. I have seen Jons(45acp) and its bent, like the whole thing from taking a hit. What the bell pans really need is just a piece of angle iron running the length of it. Which i think i'd put on any belly pan i buy.

 

I really like my BBs. Did have to trim off about 3/4" off the front lip. YMMV.

Buds are nice, but damn they are pricey too... But id still want to run a piece of steel the length of the belly pan on both sides.

 

ahh!! now I like the looks of the budbuilts again... a piece of angle down the inside of the frame sounds like a pretty good idea to reinforce whateever set up i go with.... BB's are still cheaper then skidrow

And yea, just right on the inside of the lip! Would be perfect. And maybe just one across it too. They are very nice...i just hate how you have to trim em

Yea dude. Mike told me it was rough..But..could be worth it...tho i wonder how it would fit if you put it up over the bumpers mounts...how mine is right now..didn't realize it till it was on so i left it.

 

These pics were from when I first put them on. they definately show "use" marks now. The full set (all 3 pices) ran me $575.

thats a thought they said you can run a diff drop with it so there should be play in there to let the skid go up higher if it fits

EDIT: on second thought it would be relying on the bolts only... if you hit something hard enough could cause some serious damage

 

Used a porta-band, handheld. Wasn't to bad. Make sure you measure twice, then cut once.

You can get the skid rows cheaper than their site. I ordered from Quadratec, told them I wanted to pick up since they are local and they said they would just drop ship them to my house since they had to special order them anyway. $210 and $200 for the front and transfer skid respectively. I believe the transmission skid is $200 as well (need to order that soon). And they come powder coated so you don't have to worry about painting them the first time.

Personally I went for skid row because of the front skid design. Budbuilt doesn't use the factory middle mounting point. If you saw my skid you would definitely want that support in the middle of the skid and right at the leading edge of the lowest point on the front of your truck.

Where is quadratec at? I know mount zion jeep down my way sells them but they would probably try to screw me...yeah I wont order till I take a look at them in person... If john has all his BB's on for the meet I can see both in person, then decide

From the other day. Since I was painting the bumpers I cleaned up the skid as well and painted it. This is from just before that. See that mess on the bottom in the middle? That's a big dent right under the diff mount. That hole is where the recessed middle support goes up to attach to the factory mounting point. I can only imagine how it would have been if I that support wasn't there. The bright streak above it is another pretty good hit, just a deep groove though on that one.
