Thought I would share my oil filter relocation install since I couldnt find any pics when I was searching for info. So here goes.....

Here is the kit, pretty easy to install.

I first used teflon tape and installed both hoses on the engine side adapter and screwed it on to the original oil filter nipple. I then had to find a place to put the filter assembly, as these hoses in this kit are already made up to be 30" long. The hoses are too long to put the filter where I mounted it, it will work for now but I am gonna shorten the hoses later.

This is where I chose to mount the filter, there is already a threaded hole in the chassis at this location. The filter adapter has three mounting holes in it, but I am sure if you wanted the one 8mmx1.25 bolt would hold the filter just fine. I just popped two more holes in the chassis and threaded them and used all three bolt holes in the adapter. This end of the hoses have a swivel built in so you can install the hoses using teflon tape and then mount the adapter.

This is the finished product, I will still have to remove the skid plate to do the oil change but that doesnt bother me, I just hated the oil running down all over everyhing when I changed my oil.

Great write up! The previous owner relocated the oil filter to inside the left fender well, make for easy access, but not ideal for off road.

Thats why I chose this location. I thought it would be more protected from flying rocks n stuff.

Keep us informed after a couple of offroading adventures to see if anything damaged the filter.

Its not terrible I guess, I kind of wanted it to look a bit better. You can order longer hoses or shorter hoses. I called to see if I could just shorten these, and trans dapt said that I needed to carry them to a local place that makes industrial hoses, due to a special tool used to install the ends.

I like it, I seen another post where the filter relocation kit was mounted on the frame rail passenger side, didn't say if it was necessary to remove the skid plate. I just hate to think of changeing oil with that filter mess.

Do you think that if the skid were cut the filter could be removed without removeing the skid plate.

Yes, it could be changed with the skid plate on with or without cutting the plate. However there is a pretty good amount of oil that runs out of the lines after removing it. Probably gonna make about as much of a mess as it does with the filter on the engine. If removing the skid plate is a big deal I would just choose another mounting location like in the fender well, there is plenty of hose length to get it out of the way of anything.

I think I may try the relocation kit, as you have it located useing a plastic 2 liter bottle to catch the filter and excess oil in the lines,as the filter drops.

Any way to mount up by the valve covers so you can change it by popping the hood.

Im sure you could mount it anywhere the hoses will reach. You could also purchase hoses up to 72" long if you needed to put it somewhere special.

Do you have to add more oil w/ each oil change now? Since you've got 60in of extra tubing now? Are there any other issues with relocating your filter like this?
