Nice looking fish, I dont have the time and have not been out since late October. Need to give a last shot before it turns into true Winter. I have been saying that for 2 months.........

I have no problem with keepin em to eat. I LOVE to eat trout, and we eat a lot of it. We had talked about having a fish fry this week, so I decided to keep that one. The biggest brown I've ever caught was 18" I think. They stock a ton of rainbows here, and they are usually more active than the browns.

I think trout is one of the best freshwater fish to eat, right up there with salmon. Lots of good recipes to go with trout too.......

I was gonna go today, but the river is ridiculously muddy from all the rain we got last night/this morning. Maybe it'll be cleared up tomorrow.

I ate him. They are really good! They are a PITA to clean, their skin is as tough as leather and they have spikes going all the way down their sides. A very pre-historic fish. This one was probably about 20 years old.
They can live to be 100!

I caught a 400-500 pounder once too... No Lie...

That one wasn't taken on a fly. That was on a spinnin rod. It would have been a heckuva battle on a fly rod! We do always take spinning and fly rods with us though.

Got a good story behind this one, too. (Seems like there always is when there's a good fish). About a week ago, I sent him a video of a guy catchin a 30" Rainbow on a fly rod and the guy jumps in the water and basically tackles it to catch it. I told him that if one of us ever hung somethin that big, I expect the other to jump in. Well, his regular rod's (5'6" ultralight rod) cork broke today as he was trying to change reels right before we went. So he just grabbed his Tiny Lite rod (it's less than 5' long) that has no backbone at all. I saw him set on the fish and saw the rod double over so I started runnin towards him with my net (which is just a regular size trout net). He said Man this is a good fish. Then it came out of the water the first time and we both said "Holy Crap!!" We were on the edge of a deep hole and he fought it and fought it. Finally got it close enough for me to try to net it, I put the net in the water and it took about 20 yards of line in a hurry. He finally got it back, and I started to net it again, and it took off. I was about to go swimming (it was like 45 degrees, and the water is about 50 degrees) to the next little rocky shoal to try to net it for him...while still in my waders...then I decided to tell him to try to beach it. He didn't know how well he had it hooked since the Tiny Lite has no backbone to set the hook with, but he tried it anyway. I tried netting it again, and more than half of it was hanging out of the net still, and I dind't want him to lose it, so I let it back out. He "ran" toward the bank trying to get it shallow. It came up right in front of me and I had to reach down and grab its tail and hold on for dear life until he could get hold of it and drag it onto the bank.

Moral of this story, I gotta get a bigger net!

Pretty similar story I went fishing with the guys from work but this is after me and only one of the guys from work went fishing at this lake. I lost a huge fish that snapped 20lb braid like it was sewing string. I hook into something a big bass and since the water level was down the water was ankle deep at about 30 feet away, the fish flipped it's entire body out of the water, that broke the hook out of it's mouth. We went to the other side of the lake and I hooked into a huge bass, I thought it was going to be a 10 lber. I started reeling my a&* off and calling for the more experienced fishermen of the 2 to help me land this thing. (I had been telling them that I think there were PIKE in this lake, which would be weird since we are fairly south in NY). So the guy comes running over with work gloves on and rips the 5lber out that I have posted photos on this thread before. To this day, biggest bass of my life. I am strving to catch a bigger one this year so I am crossing my fingers!!!
