Question on pre-loading shocks

So I'm looking at getting fox c/o's and TC uca's for my truck with dakars/ap expos in the back (can't decide), and I want my truck to sit as level as possible. My understanding is that when the c/o's are set at 2.5" they ride very stiff and rough off road, is that right?

I've been looking at TC spindles as well and if I put on the spindles I can set the shocks at 0 and still have a 3" lift correct? And that would ride a lot smoother off road with more travel?

 

The shocks are designed to operate best at 2.5-3" lift....higher than that they ride like shit. The spindles are nice because you can take the preload out and it will be smoother!

 

I would 110% recommend, if you have the money, to go with the Camburg spindles. You want the truck to sit level? If you lift 3 in the front and rear (expo's give 3") then you will still have a rake.

Spend the money on the spindles and your going to be ok with the factory coilovers and upper arms. You need to take into consideration as well if you preload a coilover to 3" then you will need aftermarket Upper control arms to align the suspension.

 

I go offroad pretty often so I'm going to replace the factory c/o's with fox c/os with resis and go with TC uca's.

My question tho is for on road/offroad performance, is it a better ride and more travel if I set the fox c/o's at 0 and then run spindles. Or will I be fine with just the c/o's set at 2.5 or 3"

Also is there a big difference b/w the TC spindles vs cb spindles because I have been looking at the TCs

 

i was running fox extended travel coilovers ~1" with tc upper arms with the camburg spindles....off road it was wonderful!

If you have the coin and wheel a lot, spindles with uniball upper arms and a great set of coilovers will make for a great solid wheeling set-up!

Biggest difference between the 2 is cost. Burg is 1000 compared to 1400 IIRC. They are basically the exact same thing, one offers a little more lift. I can vouch for the Burg spindles as we install them all the time and they are by far one of the best ways to solidify your suspension and lift the truck.

Your going to have a much smoother ride off road if you do spindles and leave the coilovers at 0", be it whichever company you go with!

 

That's what I'd do if I was 2wd and wanted the best ride possible!

Hell yea for sure..yea I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with the camburg or the TC spindles but if they're pretty much the same, might as well save a few hundred dollars.
